From above:

“No. It’s never going to stop.

The best you can do is try and cut down on the frequency, and how deadly these events ultimately are.“

Well said and thank you for the response, Mass Guy. I think you are right about this, and I think LE approaches it this way as well, as far as moving in as quickly as possible, doing active shooter drills, etc etc. This guy today last 30 seconds, is that correct?

ETA:
Ohio gunman had bulletproof vest, was stopped within 30 seconds of opening fire outside bar, police say

The 100 rounds is the same as the Vegas shooter used iirc., is that correct?

As we know, workplaces, schools, etc now offer active shooter training for exactly the purpose of staff and victims being able to minimize the casualties, etc, should a situation like this unfold.

As I’ve said before, if it’s one thing in common imo all these folks have it is HATE. Hate in their hearts. I feel like now we have bunch of Hitlers running around, the difference is now they’re armed with mass weapons. But the thing is, imo, for those shooters, it’s not reaaaallly about the gays, or the Jews, or the “Mexicans”, or the “Democrats”, or about any other group, it’s about themselves. And their own hate and misery. But they take it out on others.

Here’s another thing many of these people have in common, moo—political rants on SM. It seems these guys have potential for “domestic terrorist” written all over their social media profiles. That’s another thing that seems to be so common, imo.

ETA: In my opinion I think the govt looks for and flags social media profiles just like these. The problem is they can’t do anything til that person actually commits a crime.

Yeah, the Vegas shooter also had 100 round magazines.

It’s unusual for a mass shooter to have something like that (30 rounds is standard for that weapon type).

If this guy wasn’t engaged as quickly as he was, the death toll would have been several times greater.

Listening to the shooter's gunshots on the video presented at the press conference, the rate of fire sounds closer to what you might expect from an automatic, compared to a semi-automatic. LE did mention there was a "modification" to the firearm. I wonder if he was using a bump-stock? IMO

Indeed...

Do we know how many people were actually in that area at the time? It’s incredible (for lack of a better term) the amount of damage that can be done in 30 seconds...listening to that machine gunfire was just surreal....

That's what I thought. And how it's erratic goes along with that.

I believe bump stocks are banned now.

My post above alludes to the same thing...I’ll have to listen to it again but it almost sounds like more rounds fired per second than even the Vegas shooter. I have listened to that video soooooo many times....If we were compare the audio on those two I think they may be very similar.

I did see in media articles the exact words that he used to describe himself on this twitter page. So I'm not sure. There are also articles throughly analyzing his retweets so who knows.

Yes, there's nothing I see in that Twitter account that shows it is him. Anonymous. Almost looks fake, not sure. Will wait to see what LE comes up with. They'll be looking at all of this.

A lot of people. You can see how many run INTO the bar to escape the gunfire. Just before the cops kill the shooter right outside the door. If the shooter had gotten inside the door....................................

I am 64 and frequent a number of message boards, from news to home decor. I cannot tell you how many times someone, who appears to be under 40, has posted that the baby boomers just need to hurry up and die. :-(

Yes and sad to see so many similar insults leveled at Millennials. Some people need to stop being such knee-jerk reactionaries and try to be more empathetic.

This is a screen shot of the scene that was shown at the presser. Note the box to the left is where it was said the first victim was shot. The chief said the first victim was the sister and then the companion. So the sister was not at Ned Peppers. If you look up this area on google maps the 1st square if outside of a tatto club and Blind Bobs which is also a bar. So sister was likely at one of those two establishments or at least outside of it.

The rest of the victims are shot outside of the bar area surrounding the Ned Peppers bar on 5th St.

Also according to the 1st surveillance video shown during the presser, it shows that the victim went past the first gated patio attempting to go into Ned Peppers where he was shot multiple times by an officer waiting at the door way and also likely by the other officers on the 2nd video. On the 2nd surveillance video there are 5 officers that are on 5th street and directly behind and in front of the 2nd gated patio at Ned Peppers. Shooter would have had to have went into Ned Peppers to avoid these visible officers that were already shooting at him in the street. It was literally an expert ambush that occurred in under 20 seconds. Talk about brilliant teamwork and training in these Dayton Officers.

I think you have a typo there in the last paragraph, second sentence. The shooter, not the victim, went past the first gated patio...where he was shot multiple times by officers.

Thanks for clarifying what happened so well.

I don't want to watch the news. Hubby wants to watch every detail.

Thank you.

(I believe this is one of the videos that was released today in the PC but CNN had the camera on the persons speaking only and not the video screen. We did not see the video on CNN when it was originally aired, if it’s the same one which it sounds like it is.)

That definitely sounds like a semi-automatic to me.

The only time I was fooled, was with the Vegas shooting. At the time, I thought he was firing full auto, but as you said, he was using a bump stock.

I highly doubt that was the case here, because it just doesn’t sound like that.

He was just pulling the trigger fast.

I sent an email to US/Canada LE and select politicians, a few hours before the Gilroy shooting. It had this unusual provocative title: "Turning Point for Terror in US/Canada"

The subsequent terror incidents fit the seemingly random patterns described in that email, but some are more bizarre than I imagined.

Canada manhunt teens KL/BS had browsed Communist sites, Markham Muslim family killer MZ claimed to be an atheist, and now Dayton killer CB murdered his own sister and others, and openly claimed to be an atheist and socialist.

Gilroy killer SL appeared to be somewhat anti-mexican and perhaps anti-elite, but El Paso killer PC definitely held strong anti-mexican and perhaps white supremacist views.

So ... who can really predict the next few "multiple victim" killer's views and motives. We only know that we will be terrorized again.

So...sister's boyfriend is in hospital? 8 unrelated victims had to die for this man to accomplish his mission of killing his sister?

I don't think he came back to target his sister specifically.

If he wanted to murder just his sister, and his companion he easily could have only done that.

I think she was killed because she was there, and his goal was to kill as many people there as he could. If she got killed in the melee he didn't care. It's a good chance he hated her too. Seems to hate, and hate...just plain evil way before he planned this mass murder.

It sounds like he had wanted to kill people for quite awhile probably always looking for the right opportunity to carry it out.

He made sure he had all he would need in the trunk of the vehicle. Imo

I've seen the pictures. They aren't real graphic but they are out there and easy to find on twitter. There are some from several angles. You can tell it's him, you can tell where the picture is taken. You can read the bottom line of his hoodie and part of the graphics and it matches exactly.

I've also seen the video. Now I'm certain the pictures are legitimate because they match exactly with the video.

He's wearing that black hoodie linked on this reporters status that says "no heart to feel no soul to steal" and tan or khaki shorts.

Kristen Eskow on Twitter

If he did have a back pack on they surely would have removed it due to concerns of a bomb. He's handcuffed behind his back laying on his stomach. Right outside the door, just about where he is in the video.

Absolutely. Suspects are always cuffed even if they are dead.
wow, you are correct. Learn something everyday.

About one of the victims:

//“Nicholas Cumer was a graduate student in the Master of Cancer Care program and had completed his undergraduate work with us as an Exercise Physiology major. He had been in Dayton as part of his internship program with the Maple Tree Cancer Alliance...Nicholas was dedicated to caring for others. He was recognized at the 2019 Community Engagement Awards among students who had completed 100+ hours of service.”//

Another victim was a nursing student.

Every victim is a tragedy, but it really hurts my heart to lose the carers.

Yeah, I'm not so sure this is his account. Not seeing anything that links him to it.
I checked them, and they are indeed his accounts.

He came in the same car as his sister...I wonder if she knew he had a gun? Or if they were fighting?
Maybe the guns and body armor were in the trunk, unbeknownst to his sister. Later, he backtracks to the car and arms up, waits for her to return, kills her and her boyfriend/companion, and then starts shooting his way towards the bar. I listened to the audio and the shots at first were more spread out (maybe more careful aiming at sister and boyfriend/companion) and then they really starting coming in a sped up, automatic weapon way... :(

I have a feeling you described the events accurately.

The mass shootings are hard enough to follow, but shooting a younger sister and friend before turning to strangers (I'm assuming the other shootings were at strangers, though that is not confirmed, afaik) is beyond understanding.

One action we can all take is to simply be kind to others. I don't meant to be trite or overly simplistic, but I am serious. I doesn't take much effort to be kind, and we could all use it.
