The Ohio Highway Patrol, several fire departments and Stark Parks all have assisted in efforts to find Aidan Jewell, of Salem Church Road NW in Washington Township. The search started late Sunday.

Jewell was last seen at about 2 a.m. on Sunday leaving the party, Marlboro Police Chief Ron Devies said. It’s possible Jewell was intoxicated when he left the party. Police believe he was walking because the people he came to the party with had left earlier.

WHBC) – A search is underway for an 18-year-old who went missing after attending a party in Marlboro Township.

Police say Aidan Jewell was last seen at around 2 a.m. Sunday at a party in a barn on Pontius Street in the Village of New Baltimore where his friends had left him.

When his friends returned to check on him, he was gone.

“His cell phone was found in the barn, but he was gone,” said Police Chief Ron Devies.

Today, I learned that there are over 40 Washington Townships and 2 Marlboro Townships in Ohio. But I have checked that the address of the party, 7000 block of Pontius Road NE on the map would be in the jurisdiction of the Marlboro Police that reported this missing young man:

Missing teen found dead in pond near party location

The body of Aidan Paul Jewell was located and positively identified at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday after a Summit County dive team was called to check Nisly Pond, according to Marlboro Township Police Chief Devies. A sonar search located the body.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigations is processing the scene where Jewell was found, as well as the house here the party was held on Pontius Street in Marlboro Township.

Chief Devies said that several arrests are expected in the next few days due to drug use and underage drinking at the party where Jewell was last seen.

This is just tragic :

Investigators say Aidan attended a party Saturday night near the pond where his body was found. Police say there were about 20 underage guests at the home and adjacent barn. The party was hosted by a 17-year-old and a 20-year-old while their parents were away.

"He had became ill and he was in a barn at the rear of the property and they went back to check on him and he was gone; his cell phone was left behind," said the chief.

"If it's ruled accidental, there's still going to be arrests made in this case because obviously it was an underage consumption of alcohol. There's use of illicit drugs at the scene," said the police chief.

Chief Devies says, in addition to alcohol, the teens were using marijuana, mushrooms and ecstasy.

An autopsy will be completed to determine exactly how Aidan died. Investigators say they will also look into how the teens obtained the drugs and alcohol. They say the parents were not aware of the party; the father was away on business and the mother was visiting relatives.

“He was found in pond just east of a residence in the 14000 block of Ravenna Avenue NE (state Route 44),” said Harry Campbell, chief investigator with the Stark County Coroner’s Office. “It is literally in the backyard of this residence. He was found in approximately 3 to 4 feet of water between 40 to 50 yards off-shore. As far as when he entered the water, I don’t have an answer for you.”

It had been reported Jewell last was seen walking away from a party at a home on Pontius Street NE about 2 a.m. Sunday. Jewell’s father, Eugene Dieffenbaugher of Washington Township, disputes that account.

“That is not correct,” Dieffenbaugher told The Canton Repository on Tuesday. “He did not walk away from that party. The people that were responsible for what happened to my son will be held accountable. He has been nothing but a good kid.”

Investigators do not believe Jewell could have made it far from the party on his own.

“Not in the condition he was described to be in,” Devies said, acknowledging the party involved illegal drug activity and alcohol consumption.

“There are going to be arrests forthcoming from that,” he said, with a notice to those involved: “To those who assist us with information as to Aidan’s whereabouts, we are going to be more lenient on those who aid us rather than those who stonewall us.

Police are trying to determine who will be charged after a teenager disappeared after attending an underage drinking party and was found dead.

Thursday police said in a press release that Jewell's autopsy revealed there were no visible signs of trauma.

Water was also present in Jewell's lungs and stomach indicating he drowned.

Officers are continuing to interview and take statements from people who attended the party.
