The first investigator on the case, retired Detective Sgt. Pat Kelly, said he received tips on the whereabouts of Byrd and he searched with backhoes and cadaver dogs but none of those panned out.

The detective who now heads up the investigation, Detective Sgt. David Sweeney, who is in charge of the department’s missing person’s case, said he got a tip about six weeks ago about where Byrd is but he needs more information. He wants that person to get back in touch with him.

Byrd was last seen on the morning of December 25, 2007, when he was dropped off at a gas station in Youngstown, Ohio. He has never been heard from again. Byrd was not reported missing until January 3, over a week after his disappearance; the mother of his ten-year-old daughter filed the report. Few details are available in his case.
