Murder suspect indicted | Sandusky Register John Eichner faces 28 counts
John Eichner had an initial court appearance in Ottawa County Municipal Court Wednesday afternoon. He did not enter a plea and the hearing was pushed back to Friday to allow him to obtain a court-appointed attorney, but the hearing was then canceled following his indictment Friday morning.
John Eichner has an initial hearing scheduled for Monday morning in the Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas.

- John Eichner pleaded not guilty to murder charges on Friday morning.
- His arraignment in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court is scheduled for May 3 at 8:30 a.m. Howard Whitcomb was appointed as his attorney.
- He faces 28 felony charges:
- Aggravated murder
- Murder
- Abuse of a corpse
- Tampering with evidence (11 counts)
- Possession of criminal tools (10 counts)
- Money laundering (4 counts)
- John Eichner has a criminal record dating back to 1998.
- In 1998 he was indicted on corruption of a minor. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison and had to register as a sexually oriented offender. Eichner was 19 at the time, and the victim was 14.
- In 2010 he was charged with domestic violence, three years after his marriage to Amber. John threw Amber to the ground and punched her in the throat. This case was dismissed when Amber did not show up for the trial.
- DNA analysis is currently underway on the remains found which are believed to be Amber Eichner.
