"Sharon police are at Gammon's home on Lafayette Avenue carrying out a search warrant.

There is not word yet if there will be anyone charged in the investigation, which is a joint effort by Sharon and Brookfield police departments."

"A coroner in Erie, Pa. is working to determine how the boy died. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation processed the scene where he was found.

Police in HAZMAT suits were at the boy’s home on Monday, but police aren’t releasing his family members’ names yet due to the pending investigation."

This is so sad and now an investigation of the family home.

The toddler, whose name is Annakin Gammon, was found on Sunday evening in a swimming pool in Masury.

The swimming pool was fenced in.

Police say the boy found his way through an opening in the garage of a home by the corner of Syme and Alfred streets near State Line Road.

Gammon was taken to Sharon Regional Hospital where he later died.

Police say the Erie County Coroner is conducting an autopsy to determine the child's cause of death.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation was in the 600 block of Syme Street in Brookfield Monday morning investigating the incident.

awww, that is what we all worried about most, with a missing baby. So sorry for the family...:rose:

Coroner: boy drowned to death.

"Anakin Gammon, the 2-year-old boy whose disappearance was the subject of a massive search by first responders and community members Sunday, drowned to death, said Mercer County Coroner John Libonati.

Libonati said he is not ruling on the manner of death – the options are accident, homicide, suicide or natural causes – until he reads reports from Sharon and Brookfield police."

(I just want to add I am glad the Sharon Herald has the spelling of Anakin's name correct. It always peeves me when it's not correct ("Annakin"). Sorry for the whine).

I can't get this poor boy out of my head. :(

(Partially) quoting myself, because when scrolling it almost seems like the above was a jab at the poster before me, katydid23. I apologize if it came across that way as that wasn't my intention. I knew you were quoting the newspaper who spelled his name as 'Annakin', katydid, and my peeve-whine was definitely not aimed at you.

Is there a reason why the poor child's name isn't in the title?

It really did not come across that you were jabbing at anyone.

The boy apparently left his home on Lafayette Avenue in the West Hill neighborhood of Sharon, Pa., with his autistic brother, 5, Sunday afternoon. A 4:41 p.m. Mercer County 911 call reported them missing.

The older boy was found safe at 5:17 p.m., several blocks away over the Ohio line. Anakin was found at 8:21 p.m. in the above-ground pool of a home in the 600 block of Syme Street in Masury, two streets west of his home and across the Ohio line.
...
The boys’ home is on Lafayette Avenue in Sharon, which is one street east of the Ohio-Pennysylvania line at South Stateline Road.

Nickie Gammon’s Facebook post said Anakin was last seen in his yard at the corner of Lafayette Avenue and Erie Street. He was wearing a Paw Patrol hooded jacket and shorts with no shoes, the post said.

The boys were spotted at the corner of Stateline Road and Erie Street a little after 5 p.m., Kasiewicz said. Brookfield police learned of the boys’ disappearance about 5 p.m. The Pennsylvania State Police deployed a helicopter and dogs also were part of the search.

The 5-year-old was spotted playing in a rain barrel by himself at 5:17 p.m. on Edmond Street just west of Jane Street in Masury. The property owner called 911 and an officer recovered the boy a short time later. He was about three blocks from home. The older boy is autistic and not verbal, but the younger boy was not autistic, Smith said.

More at the link. Poor little guy :tears: How did he manage to get into an above-ground pool?

His name was not released until the day after he was found.

I'm glad he's been charged. I hope the other siblings are in the care of someone who will actually watch them!

It made sense that this would be coming. The story seemed to be missing something when it first happened.

Sharon dad awaits sentencing for drowning death of two-year-old
http://www.wfmj.com/story/37956199/sharon-dad-awaits-sentencing-for-drowning-death-of-two-year-old

MERCER, Pa. -
A Sharon man is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to some of the charges filed after police say he was passed out drunk as two of his children wandered away. One of the children, a two-year-old boy drowned.

According to Mercer County Court records 35-year old David Gammon pleaded no contest and was found guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and child endangering last month.

A second count of child endangering was dismissed.
[.....]
Gammon was originally charged with the more serious version of felony involuntary manslaughter because the victim was under 12 years old.

However, Gammon was allowed to plead no contest to the less serious first-degree misdemeanor level of involuntary manslaughter as part of a plea deal.

Court records do not indicate when Gammon will be sentenced.

Sometime in May, maybe:
*Sentencing - OH - Anakin Gammon (2) (Sept. 10, 2017) - David Gammon (35) "dad" charged w/1 count involuntary manslaughter & 2 counts of endangering welfare of children.
March update: Pled no contest found guilty of involuntary manslaughter & 1 count child endangerment. 1 count of endangerment dismissed. He was allowed to plead no contest to the less serious first-degree misdemeanor level of involuntary manslaughter & endangering welfare of children as part of a plea deal. 5 to 10 years if setences run consecutively. Court records do not indicate when sentencing will be.

If anyone can get into the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas and see if there is any date, would be very much appreciated! Another court site I can't get into.... :pcguru:

TIA!

That looks like a Pennsylvania court site - can't get in - but I noticed the pacourts in the link. This case is in Ohio....

The area is right on the OH-PA line. Mercer County PA courts would be the correct location. Anakin was actually found on the OH side of town (Masury) but lived in PA (Sharon) (less than a mile between home/found locations). The link takes you to David Gammon's case info.
