When my brother passed away as a adult in his mid 30s my father wouldn't leave his side once he entered the funeral home. They had to beg him to leave for abit to prepare my brother. My dad just didn't want him alone. So sad no one has claimed her. That broke me. If I could I would.

I agree it is sad that nobody claimed the poor child. Just looking at the pictures of the mother makes me assume she is not a very caring mother. I may be wrong but the impression I get just from her picture is not a good impression.

I really hope any other children are placed in loving homes and not with them. They have proven they are not fit to care for children.

A question I have is WHY did they even bring her to the restaurant?
It just doesn't make sense. But then, the whole thing doesn't make much sense to me anyway.

It is a common practice at some of the family owned/run Chinese restsurants around here.

Why hasn't any family went to claim her? Are they allowed to? Can any random person claim her and be in charge of her funeral? If no one does what happens? I thought she had a uncle and grandparents? The aunt in New York? Surely someone will step up???!!!!

It's just perspective and the angle from which they took the picture. It's not actually right inside the door from the pictures I've seen. (Go to review websites, there are customer pictures you can look at.)

Thanks for the business link. Interesting info there on how the restaurant came to be, and that father's other family members had restaurants. Pictures on that business page make me believe you are right, the other pic was majorly zoomed .

Has anyone come forward to speak about them? Usually there are people who are shocked, who knew them as good parents, whose children played with them, etc.

We have the one person saying they didn't let her go to a birthday party without them, but not much else. I wonder how isolated they kept themselves. I wonder how much they were hiding.

I get such a bad feeling about this case. I don't know why and I can't explain it. But I feel like the life of that little one was probably awful. I have nothing to base this on (other than the scant info on her death,) it's just my feeling about it. I hope sister is getting lots of love and help.

Oh, I am sorry. I thought you meant before everything went so terribly wrong. It does not seem they have close family members or friends to watch the children. They easily gave up rights to the older daughter to state services, not a request for a family member that I have heard about yet.

I too have had a sinking feeling about this "family unit". Ever since I saw the "mother's" mugshot I have felt such a coldness. I'm afraid to find out what else has been going on behind closed doors.

In this article, it says that Liang Zhao's father and sister were both present at the custody hearing.
I'm wondering why they wouldn't be taking care of funeral arrangements for little Ashley?

However, following the postponed hearing, Coleman said that the agency was continuing to evaluate potential placements for the sibling. A sister and the father of Liang Zhao attended Wednesday's proceeding in Family Court. The relatives are from out of state and it was not clear if Ashley's sister could be placed with them.

"We're still trying to find relatives (for) placement," Coleman said. "It's an ongoing process."

All I'm trying to say is that I see a lot of posters maybe feeling bad for the dad even suggesting he was abused by mom. We know nothing about any of that. All I know is they both knew very well she was dead and they pretended she wandered off. Horrible. Both of them.

Her "mother" looks like a zombie...I'm not sure if she's in shock or just does not care about what she has done

I'm thinking they had to hide her in the roof...there are not many other places she could have been

Exactly. Never mind dad is the one who called 911 to claim she was missing, even though he allegedly knew full well she was not missing but dead.

Based on the charges alone I have to wonder if he wasnt just as bad if not worse than she was. Lets take a look at these charges.

"Ashley's mother, Mingming Chen, 29, who is not a naturalized U.S. citizen, is charged with murder."

" The father, Liang Zhao, 34, who is a naturalized U.S. citizen, is charged with complicity to murder. Both also are charged with felonious assault. Both parents are Chinese natives. "

So we have "Felonious assault" for one charge. Wonder how they got evidence of that. Maybe during interviews with the parents or interview of the sibling.

Either way that charge by itself is telling me that he was part of a physical assault on the child. Whether prior or during whatever happened to the girl.

The extra complicity charge tells me he stood by and was aware that his wife was doing something horrible (like a beating) to the child and he just let it happen without stopping her.

So yea. I dont think he is very innocent in all this according to those two charges.

Also, I think he covered for her crime to try and save what's left of his family.

Almost like the Ramseys. (If RDI). Judging from the posts on the FB page this has been going on for a long time and the man was aware of it or he would not post about it. Would not surprise me if he was found guilty of allowing Ashley to be placed (or remain) in a situation that led to her death.

I don't have a bit of sympathy for child killers, and I have a problem with arguments that seek to minimize such horrible actions.

Completely agree with you. It makes me sick to think of what she went through. It wouldn't surprise me if the autopsy uncovered healed fractures. And yes, head injuries can cause bile. Sometimes children have infections not treated by Flagyl or other antibiotics and that creates bile as well. I think it was the head injuries though.

I can tell you exactly why she was still in the US. Its because we dont enforce immigration laws.

Very sad but very true. When I was in Chicago there were murders committed by illegals and the excuse always was that there's just so many illegals, so much paperwork, the system is bogged down, everyone is understaffed, there's so many weaknesses in the system, etc. I have no problem with LEGAL immigration too.

IMO . It's just sad they would go through so much effort to hide her rather than get help. I will say one thing that stands out to me is the 'green fluid' coming from her mouth. I don't know too much about brain injuries but I did my best to research it but cant see what the connection was. Unless she was already sick. When the restaurant page kept mentioning the mother being sick, maybe it was the little girl who was sick a lot and they needed to look after her. But stated it was the mother to avoid suspicions. WHat if the mother hit the girl but she had a weakened immune system, or was to weak to handle the abuse leading to her death. This is just MO.

If this little girl wasn't already sick and vomiting up profusely, I will predict that an autopsy report may show blunt forceful abdominal trauma.
