This is a tragedy were a beautiful five years old lost her life at the hand of someone who should have been protecting her

As any of us ever worked seven (7) days a week from morning till night? long after the last customer has gone, they are still washing dishes and cleaning up the restaurant for the next day. Up probably at the crack of dawn to go to the market and start the prep work. Those tiny carrots, bits of broccoli and sliver of meat don't get cut by themselves, all this for probably minimum wage or less? Asian restaurants are on a very tight profit margin. Haven't you said once or twice that its cheaper to eat here than at home? and yet we question the very few days off they took, putting a sinister spin on it without knowing anything about their day to day lives

Asian culture is probably the furthest away from North American. They are very proud and driven to succeed. They do not want government handouts. They do not immigrate to take advantage of our benefits as most of the of the other immigrants do.

Everyone has a breaking point. This being said, it is extremely sad that her beautiful 5 years old was the one who died because of it. I am sure that regardless of what you think she looks like in her mugshot, it is something that will haunt her for the rest of her life.

In addition to the bolded problematic and unevidenced statements above, I don't have a bit of sympathy for child killers, and I have a problem with arguments that seek to minimize such horrible actions.

not necessarily. anyone who is here who is convicted of certain felonies, even legally, can be deported upon release from detention.

my BIL was deported before I met my hubs. my hubs and a few of his other siblings were born here, but his parents travelled to Mexico in summer because they had a house there. his youngest brother came early. they brought him here legally, but he committed a felony as an adult and was deported.

Yes. Something about being subject to a deportation order, but the high bond would prevent that from happening. So I guess that means they are illegal aliens.

the couple who own my neighborhood's mini mart is an Asian woman and Indian man. I know, not common. anyways, our area is VERY high cost of living. they are open every.dang.day from 6 am to 10pm during week and 12 am weekends. they have one employee, a retiree part time who they probably pay cash. they are always tired. poor ppl.

Like a plea for help maybe?

He admitted on that page he wasn't sure what a business FB page purpose was, so he said he would use it to post closings and such (not quoting). Perhaps he didn't understand that there was no need professional to post personal reasons for closings? I think they were in over their heads working everyday from dawn to probably midnight. Yuck I would never want to own a pizzeria for this reason. A friend did and they wound up selling at a loss just to get their lives back. Somewhere I read that his parents had a successful Chinese restaurant for years in same strip mall. He opened when they retired. Perhaps there was tremendous pressure on him to succeed?

All conjecture, and moo. I still feel more sad than mad here so far.

Not me. Still as furious as I was yesterday. A baby was murdered.

it is a crime and travesty this baby is gone and I am angry at the parents, but I bet the farm she is mentally ill and dad feels terrible. nevertheless, they should face justice.

Something was BAD wrong with dad and mom way before this happened, based on the business FB posts. Sick all the time. He was covering for her and she was crazy. IMO

I totally get that. I guess I mean that this is one of the few times I can say that I feel a degree of empathy. Not really for mom so much, but for the Father.

That would be the guy who allegedly saw his child as she was dying and yet didn't even call 911. He supposedly tried to revive her? Is he a doctor? I don't think so. And then when she did die he didn't report that either.

I try not to judge parents.

A) I don't have kids.
B) I could not even begin to imagine what they were going through at that time.
C) Depression and hormones and love makes you do irrational things sometimes.

Not judge? Mother is accused of beating her child which resulted in child's death and father is accused of helping her to cover it up. Who are we supposed to judge then if not these two?

I really don't care how dad feels. He reportedly saw that the girl was dying and even after she stopped breathing he didn't call 911.

How does it work if convicted and she isn't a legal citizen? Does the US keep her for length of her jail term? Tia

Yes, US will keep her for the length of her prison term.

Murder is not irrational, it's criminal. The child was murdered. They will be judged and deserve to be. You murder a child, you are going to get judged to the fullest extent.

You better believe I'm judging them.

Maybe I'm just overly sympathetic in this case. I don't know. Something about this case screams desperation and an out cry for help that was never answered.

I used to get so angry at mothers who killed their children. How could you kill something that you grew inside you for 10 months??? I've had 2 miscarriages and always felt some kind of jealousy I guess.

But as a social worker and offender advocate (mostly men offenders) I try to see all sides and ways to prevent this in the future.

So maybe a way to have prevented this was the Mom have days off and getting treatment. Getting burnt out, depressed and overly stressed (like working 7 days a week) will cause physical symptoms of sickness as well.

BUt we don't have any of this information. We don't know she was mentally ill, tired, overwhelmed, crying for help. We just don't know.

She could just be a horribly abusive person.

I work with the county advocacy center. I work with victims. I grow weary of the monsters who kill and harm their children. I suppose our paths often color our different views.

IMO, I would not be surprised if Ashley has experienced extensive abuse and a pattern emerges.

I'm not saying any one path is right or wrong. Just offering a different perspective.

I do think think this case is horrible and tragic.

Sorry, I was not intending to insinuate any opinion was better or right. I was just commenting that what we experience in life can contribute to all they varying opinions presented. All perspectives are welcome.
