Cleveland police searching for missing woman who may have been involved in altercation with child's father

Police said they received third-party information that Asia Townsend was involved in an altercation with her child's father and that the man had taken her and their five-year-old child inside of a vehicle.

Officers said they have been in touch Townsend via phone and she told them she was not the victim of a kidnapping or any altercation HOWEVER she stated she would meet officers at the second district so that they could see that she was safe.

Asia never showed up.

Cleveland police search for missing woman

It was reported to police that Asia Townsend was in an altercation with her child’s father. Police said the man took her and their 5-year-old.

Officers were able to reach Townsend, who said she was not the victim of an altercation. According to Cleveland police, she said she would meet officers at the Second District Headquarters, but she has not yet been there.

Police said they believe she is traveling in a red Kia Sportage hatchback.

It seems pretty clear that Asia was not able to speak freely during our phone call with police. I hope they find her soon!
I’m wondering why the missing persons report is only for Asia and not for her five-year-old daughter as well.

I questioned the same thing. I found it odd that the report did not include the child.

Update from Cleveland police on June 29, 2020: The woman came to the Fourth District to do a missing person returned report; she is no longer missing.
