I think part of the reason they gave so much info is that this guy's situation (with his helper being mauled to death) left many locals wondering if this was a "payback" kind of killing. (I'm near where it happened -- an hour away, anyway).

On a different topic, why is everyone so sure this is manslaughter rather than an accident? It appears his assistant panicked and fled; but if the assistant was following orders, once things went wrong there was no one to corroborate his/her account of events. No wonder s/he ran!

IMO, the choking part might have been an accident but choking people may still be saved if prompt action is taken. Apparently nothing was done to see if he could be revived if he was still face down on a water bed and wearing a mask and if there is no record that 911 was called to assist him. If someone left a helpless suffocating man to die in handcuffs unassisted that part was not an accident.

What if this wasnt consensual at all.

What if someone that secretly hated him gained his trust and then did this?

If they were assisting why would they leave the sex toy in his mouth if he was laying face down?

Just seems suspicious to me.........when a dead man cant talk and only the assistant can.

I've done a little checking on the metal sphere covering the man's head and can't come up with much. I honestly don't know what I'm looking for. Does anyone know what this is? How in the heck was the man supposed to free himself when his "session" was over? He was handcuffed and bound. Someone failed this man terribly.

If a teen found him, I have to wonder about the age of the assistant.

I googled it when this story was first posted, Miss Izzy. It's one of those straps that wrap around your head and has that ball- like "thing" that goes into your mouth. Have you ever seen the movie Pulp Fiction? There is a brutal rape scene in it where Ving Rhames has one used on him. I'm not too sure how these are appealing....I really don't want to find out either LOL!

Blondie--I don't watch films so I haven't seen that. I'll have to check it out. My guess is that there are "rules" about these sorts of things and every single one was broken here, IMO.

I just can't imagine leaving anyone bound and locked with something in their mouth. That's just asking for disaster. I have to wonder if this set-up was common for the man and his assistant or could this have been a suicide pact?

When I read the words "sex toy" I didn't think of that ball gag thing-I thought of a toy that tends to be plasticy and how do I say this? Always ready to be the working stiff that it is. Why would someone say "sex toy" if it was a type of gag--especially when the writer sure didn't mince words on the other details.
That sphere thingy--over the head piece with the zippers?and a toy? Seems like overkill to me.
Not that I know anything--it's wierd to begin with, but all the layers make it sound extra extra hinky.

The two piece metal sphere thing is a deprivation helmet. (I googled it!) It looks like a two piece knight's helmet that bolts together where one's ears would be. There are a few holes in it that can be covered. Like I said, why do that AND the zipper mask? The helmet cost like 400 bucks on the site I looked at. Okey dokie-

You can still hear with one of those leather masks on. Smell not so much and obviously you can't be carrying on a conversation.

Where's the safety signal? You sure can't have a "safe" word if your throat has a sex toy jammed in it.
