A couple of more answers for you. Forensic testing was done on Brian’s car, Clint’s car, Meredith’s car, and the Professors house where Clint and Meredith stayed that night.

Anyone know the name of the professor? What did he/she know about the case? Was he/she a teacher for any of Brian. Clint, or Meredith's classes?

Personally, I feel that Det. Hurst is REALLY trying to sell the theory that Brian definitely made it out of the building that night. At the start of this case it was "no other possible way Brian could have exited", now all of a sudden it's "there were a few exits he could have gone through". Also the cameras were a big focus, but now Hurst is saying to not focus on the cameras, as they were not reliable/working properly. I am in no way accusing him of anything sinister, but it just seems like he wants people to go with the idea that Brian can't possibly be in the construction zone. Seems like LE is doing anything to avoid being pressured into digging up the foundation, either because A) It's just simply a lot of work and resources that go into doing that and/or B) In the event that anything is found buried there, it could embarrass LE for a botched investigation.

There seems to have been more than one way to exit the building as far as through the construction area back then and it's not surprising as I'm sure the fire code would make it so. Here is a photo (sorry for the quality) of one of the construction entrances back then that is right across from the old Wendy's that Det Hurst talked about. If Brian came out this way he was about a 10 minute walk from his home.

Matt,

I think that Detective Hurst wants to tell people that Brian made it out of the construction site, because to still have his body trapped or wedged in some foundation shows negligence on LE's part, in which case they don't want to be held accountable for over-site.

I think if Det Hurst could speak his mind he would tell you that he thinks there is a good chance Brian is still alive IMO. I personally think that there is a good chance that Brian made it home that night. The fact his bed was made and his shower was dry when Alexis got there doesn't mean that he wasn't there early Saturday morning. She also states that none of his things were missing. Unless she knew every piece of clothing that he ever had then she would not know what was still there or not.

Nothing was ever mentioned as to what was possibly taken from Brian's the night it was broke into, but they did say that his guitar was still there and other valuables. This seems odd to me. Why would someone break in if not to take valuables or at least something that could be sold for cash? We are also told that other apartments where broke into so are we to assume that those places also had no items of value stolen either?

I would like to know if the locks were changed on his apartment door. Personally I would have especially if I was Alexis. I remember Alexis saying that she stayed there on occasion and I wouldn't have felt safe knowing someone who possibly hurt Brian had his keys.

If Brian was planning on leaving it all behind I seriously doubt he would not have planned for it in a pretty detailed way. A few items of clothing in a book bag some cash and off he went. Do I think that this is what happened? No I think this is what could have happened. Brian was anything but dumb and I'm 100% sure in my mind he could have.

According to an interview with Randy, thieves took Brian's DVD player and a small tv. But I agree, surely the guitar would be more valuable and probably easier to grab.

There was a show on about Brian not long after he disappeared and on that show they showed the construction entrance doors to the left of the Tuna. As you can see they are pad locked shut but this doesn't mean that they were like that the night Brian went missing. This pic is a video capture and right after this scene they panned to the right and you will see the Tuna's entrance.

Yeah, I'd bet the bldg mgr., bldg owner, and GC tightened things up a bit when they found out a drunk patron of the bar above their construction site, who strangely seems not to have left the building on 4/1/06, coincidentally turned up missing - permanently.

They must have hated it when the lead detective publicly pointed out that the construction area in the building was 'completely dug up' and 'heavily under construction' and also offered the opinion that 'someone could of squeezed in or out of there' and stated that 'the basic indication is that somehow Brian got down into the construction area'.

Doh!

Sergeant Hurst states that the locks had not been changed at the time of the break in.

Very well said, and I agree completely with your assessment.

Just search on search Youtube and you can hear a message that Brian left to Alexis on her cell. Far as I know that's the only one out there available to the public.

Anybody have a direct link? I can't find it in a search on You Tube.

Here's another pic of the construction entrance doors...

Kinda scary looking in there, I'd say. And then in the dark at around 2:15am... And then drunk... And all dug up...

FWIW, through the open door, I see a guy in jeans and white shirt standing on left, and a scissor lift on the right. Here's a scissor lift: http://www.henningrental.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Scissor-Lift-Skyjack-3226.jpg

Had not, so obviously Alexis had a key or someone did. I'm surprised she would stay there knowing someone else may have had a key.

Snipped and BBM

BINGO!

When LE tries to sell the public a bill of goods, it's usually to cover for police incompetence.

Even if he won't admit it to himself, at some level Hurst probably knows that Brian is buried at the construction site and that the case could have been solved within days if the site had been promptly and properly investigated.

Starts at about 30 seconds in.

I know it's hard to pick out anything from a few second sound byte. But to me, Brian sounds depressed, and down here. Or very tired. Certainly not happy. Thank you! I have been waiting for any voiceclip of Brian for a long time!

I wonder if that was the message that he left her the night he went out and she called him back? I remember when they asked her if he sounded OK and she said he sounded fine. With out knowing him it's hard to tell.

I assume they would’ve changed the locks after the break in. And I’m honestly not sure how often Alexis stayed there after.

Photo that I believe was taken days after Brian's disappearance in 4/06, showing an entrance into the 'construction area' at street level behind Mad Mex and under the Gateway Theatre, one level below the Ugly Tuna. Note construction worker and scissor lift visible through doorway: https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NbDSp0TG...600/Screen+Shot+2017-03-31+at+9.11.57+AM.png"

Basically the same view after the space had been transformed into the Sunflower Market which opened 5 months later around 9/15/06:

(embufum, how do I get the images to show rather than the image urls?)

Needless to say, a lot of work was done after Brian Shaffer disappeared. Sgt. Hurst was certainly correct in noting that it was 'heavily under construction'. I don't doubt that he was right that it was 'completely dug up'.

Can anyone assert with realistic certitude that Brian Shaffer's remains do not lie within? Don't think so. And that's a shame.

Yeah I believe that is the side if the building that directly faced the Wendy's that was torn down.

When you post a photo just copy it to you hard drive and name it what ever you want. Then from there just post it. Is that what you mean?
