ST. CLAIR TWP — . Father’s Day wasn’t so peaceful this year at Bryan Schmidt’s home on Weeping Willow Drive in this northern Butler County community.

The 36-year-old man was found fatally stabbed on the floor about 4:40 p.m., and his 18-year-old step-son has been charged with his slaying.

Craft said Ray was charged quickly because there was a lot of evidence that was found at the family home and other family members were present at the time of the incident. He said a knife from the house was used in the stabbing but would not elaborate.

The 18-year-old St. Clair Twp. man who confessed to killing his stepfather on Father’s Day was found guilty Wednesday in a Butler County court.

The jury of seven women and five men began deliberations in the Michael Ray case Tuesday, retiring after two hours of work. After four hours of deliberations the jury returned its verdict. Judge Michael Sage sentenced him to the mandatory 15 years to life.
