Blaming the victim is a common knee jerk reaction to rape. Somehow she must have been complicit, right???

OH, except a child of 12 CANT be held accountable for making decisions about her body. Because she is a CHILD. Which makes the adults at fault. Black and white. Even if we were to believe that she consented to sexual contact in any way shape or form, she cannot give consent. The law is clear and these folks are rapists. Moving on.

She did not have sex, IMO. She was groomed and then raped.

Actually kbl8201 - I have had good success with writing emails to reporters on this very issue. My first email was written to a reporter in Idaho about a 10-12 (can't remember exactly now) year old girl that was pregnant. She had been repeatedly raped by her stepfather. That reporter wrote me back and we shared several emails with the end result that the reporter promised that she would be more careful in the future. I wish I would have had TexasMist's article to send to her.

Not all reporters are as responsive - but I really feel if you let them know that they are being misleading (under 13 can not legally consent to sex) and insensitive ("having sex"), it puts them on notice and next time they are more careful about the words they choose. It keeps the thought in the back of their head, so to speak.

and it starts i apologize if this has already been brought to light, but check out the (as of now) first post from the comment sections. Were already blaming the victim and saying poor perp it just makes me so angry!!
