Found Deceased OH - Caleb Marple, 39, Cleveland, 18 May 2020

  • #21
Caleb is a very close friend (more like family) of my extended family.
They have been trying to join here to look for help and direction but it keeps booting them out at the final step.
I am hoping that this thread doesn't get buried before they can finally make it in.

Did Caleb lose his phone in the Uber vehicle on his way to the Barley House? When he left the BH was he with any of his friends? Do you know whether he would have made his way to another bar closer to his home since he left the BH at midnight?

Sorry you are going through this.

Hello and Good Morning- Caleb Marple is like family. His disappearance is completely out of character. After the Barley House,, It has been confirmed,, a few days ago,, that he was spotted on the Center Street Bridge crossing from the East Bank to the West Bank in Cleveland - a recent search party was held with groups in the Barley House area and Center St area - a resident that saw the search happening was able to point out areas where cameras were located- to the best of my knowledge- footage has not been viewed yet. Thank You all for your concern in this case

I wish they could tell us if the phone was left on a trip TOO downtown or another location, or on the way home. Where he was last seen is quite close to numerous bodies of water.

Do we know if the phone was returned to the neighbour by the Uber driver during the time Caleb would have been at the BH?

He and his neighbor left Crocker Park and headed to Cleveland-

Originally ot was believed that an Uber was taken from Crocker to Cleveland- it is now believed that there was no Uber. It is said that Caleb was seen saying goodbye to people at the BH ,, walking out the doors,, sitting outside for a moment and then walking out. Whether or not he went to other bars,, Im unsure of

It is now believed there was no Uber,,It is unclear as to why the neighbor had the phone and why she had it

Everything about Calebs disappearance seems to be "unclear" - It is now believed that there was no Uber and the neighbor had the phone

I see where you stated it’s been confirmed he was spotted crossing to the West Bank. Is there a link or some type of source in which you can share to verify. This in no way means I am questioning you. I’m asking due to WS rules.

I hate that Caleb is missing. He seems like a great guy. Those following Caleb’s thread here on WS will continue checking for new info & updates.

There’s also comments posted; some fairly recent.

Groups of volunteers search for missing Westlake man

This article states Caleb’s sister went to his house, noticed his vehicle there & nothing out of place. It also states she found his place unlocked.

Couple of questions come up:
•is it common for Caleb to leave his door unlocked?
•what caused his sister to go check his home? Did someone call her? It couldn’t have been LE because a missing persons report wasn’t filed yet; she was the one that did that.

Let’s just say there was an Uber and Caleb did leave his phone in there...

WHY would the UBER driver give the neighbor the phone?
The neighbor obviously is not Caleb! I assume the driver doesn’t know Caleb or the neighbor, so why give the phone to a stranger?! Are there procedures set by UBER if personal property is left?
Also, (if we were to assume the UBER part is true) that makes me wonder if this UBER driver went to Caleb’s house to return the phone (& obviously CM isn’t home), was unsuccessful, did the driver just decide to go knocking on the neighbor’s door?

IMO, I just don’t see the driver going to a random next door neighbor’s house, ringing the door bell, and asking if they’d keep the phone to give to Caleb once he returned home. Do we know what time this supposedly took place? If it was in the wee hours, I’m def questioning the UBER & him giving the neighbor Caleb’s phone.

Again this is JMO

First of all, let me say I'm sorry the stress and worry that Caleb's disappearance is causing his friends and family.

I'm trying to get a handle the circumstances that led up to Caleb's disappearance.

Caleb left his home in Crocker to go to downtown Cleveland to the BH. Did he go by himself? Were the people who identified him as being at the BH his friends, people who worked there or was it from cctv footage? If it was his friends what was his demeanor? Someone stated he sat outside the bar briefly. Is that because he was upset? Had he had an argument with someone? Or was he just a bit too intoxicated to stand? Did he leave on his own volition? I can see that after closures of two months there would have been lots of celebrating freedom.

I see the distance from the Crocker neighbourhood to the BH is over six miles which makes it outside of what most people would walk. So I presume he got to the brewpub either by taxi, Uber or with a friend who drove there with him. Especially since Caleb's own vehicle was found at home. I would hazard a guess that cabs and ride sharing companies would have been inundated with requests. If Caleb is like me and my friends and we found out we'd have to wait a long time for a ride he might have just walked for a while hoping to hail a cab or something. If he did do that what would have been the best route to start the walk?

He was verified as being at the BH and left around midnight. Can someone verify whether or not Ohio and specifically Cleveland had lifted the closures of pubs and restaurants? When I go on the internet it appears that many places are still closed. Were Crocker neighbourhood bars and restaurants open at the same time the BH was? And if they were would he have stopped in for a nightcap before heading home?

Was the neighbour just a neighbour, an acquaintence or a friend? Did Caleb go out with the neighbour that night? And if he did, did he get to the BH in their vehicle?

As a close family friend has stated, the Uber aspect cannot be verified. What about the neighbour having Caleb's phone? Is that verified?

I wonder the same thing about the neighbor. Did the neighbor go to the bar also? If so, did they go together or was it just random chance they were at the same bar?
Also, wondering about how well the two knew each other.

That is something that needs to be reviewed.

It sure would make me think of completely different scenarios depending on which it is.

After visiting the bar implies he at least made it home or to another location.

Before means he could have had trouble when leaving without a phone for contacts / maps.
