Found Deceased OH - Caleb Marple, 39, Cleveland, 18 May 2020

  • #81
Are there any abandoned buildings in the general vicinity of where Caleb was last seen? I know there is the dreaded aspect of nearby water sources but is it possible Caleb could have gotten lost in some industrial park which is currently closed down? I acknowledge he was very intoxicated when he left the BH so nothing is off the table in terms of where he could have ended up.

Thank you so much for caring and being on the frontline. Sheesh,,, I cant even begin to write the thoughts and scenarios ive had go thru my head,,, so many. Ive had a gut feeling that hes in the water- I probably only feel that due to how close he was to the water ,,, that paired with this neighbor having his phone makes me feel loke the neighbor must know something ,,, why would you hold onto someones phone for that long w/o contacting someone the next day saying Caleb didnt come home? I picked that apart and thought maybe the neighbor figured he went home with someone? One of his close friends feels hes deceased (that friend was not any part of the group that went out) My sister husband feels hes still here,,, hes not really processing all of this to well . Once again,,, many thanks for your concerns and being a frontliner,,, I wish i jad more direct answers

Thank you for being so forthcoming and candid. I’m hoping on hope by some crazy miracle he shows up with a story to tell. The water makes the most sense statistically but the neighbor angle is one you’d have to consider. Is this neighbor an active participant in the hunt for Caleb? Also, this is a really safe place to open up and the resources here are second to none, that being said you should apply to be verified. It’s still anonymous, just a way to make sure the facts are known.

Good catch, Diana.
It has been so many days. I wish we had more info.

So what’s this about? Kicked out?

Marple was last seen on May 18 after he got kicked out of the Barley House bar on West 6th Street.

BBM

Man found dead in Cuyahoga River in Cleveland was missing 82-year-old

Yes that is a good catch. I never read the entire article until now because it wasn’t Caleb who was found in river. Isn’t it strange how one little word or phrase can have so much meaning or in this case confusion?
I wonder what time Barley House closed that night?

It would be nice to know the circumstances surrounding his ejection from the bar. Was he just really, really drunk? Was he behaving in a manner that made the servers or other bar goers uncomfortable? Did he get into a fight with someone? If he was just really, really drunk he may have just wandered aimlessly around without any plan. If he got into a fight, though, that may have made him quite vulnerable to having someone follow him outside and continue the confrontation elsewhere.

I am very unfamiliar with Cleveland (as in never been there). But I wanted to look at the different routes Caleb may have taken after leaving Barley House to see if a building, landmark, body of water, etc stood out.

It states he left Barley House at 12 am and was last seen (video) at Center St bridge (Center Street & Washington Ave) about 12:30 am.

I googled route from BH to Center St bridge.
•It’s a 0.7 mile walk.
•3 routes were suggested, one included taking stairs, ranging from 13-14 min walks.
•But he wasn’t seen on video there (Center St bridge) until 12:30am (just something to note)
Google Maps

But it’s also been stated that Caleb may have went to the West Bank of Flats (hope I wrote that correctly).

So I googled that route as well (BH to WBF).
•It’s about a 1 mile walk.
•It also provide 3 routes which range from 19-21 min walks.
•I noticed on each route, from Washington to Sycamore included areas of restricted usage.
Google Maps

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but West Bank of Flats is more of a general area in Cleveland? Or is it a specific place/address?

Another thing to note:
It was stated that Caleb may have taken Detroit Ave or W 25th as he walked to Center St bridge. Noticed none of the 6 routes suggested included these two streets. Actually, I had a hard time finding W25th St.

I guess I provided all that to say, maybe someone more familiar with the area may know or recognize something specific along one of the routes that would draw Caleb to it or may not be the safest for him to walk upon (esp if intoxicated)?

I understand the time to complete the route is merely a suggestive time from google, but I thought it was worth mentioning (15 min difference).

*it was stated= from “find” Caleb fb page & info flyer.

West 25th is a VERY busy street. It is likely either someone would have spotted him if he was on W25. Additionally, the flats are in a valley and 25th is on the top and the hill up is quite difficult. I also believe he'd be spotted if he was walking uphill because it would be odd. The Flats isn't really an area people walk around it. It's industrial/ bars/ the river/ bridges/ kinda desolate. There are so many places he could be. I wonder if anyone check the RTA (transit agency) cameras as there is a "rapid" (like a subway but not underground) that travels through there. If he got on the rapid, he could be far away.

Lots of abandoned buildings in the Flats.

Body pulled from Cuyahoga River in Cleveland during search for man last seen at downtown bar

IDENTITY OF MAN HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED.
Cleveland firefighters and police about 2 p.m. Friday pulled the body from the Cuyahoga River outside Christie’s Cabaret on Main Street on the West Bank of the Flats.
Police on Friday roped off the strip club’s parking lot as officers and firefighters pulled an unidentified body from the edge of the river.
It’s the third body pulled from the water in Cleveland in nine days.

The other two were older gentlemen.

The neighbor was not at his search party,, Ive pleaded with the neighbor and her boyfriend on social media to atleast share hos missing persons flier- the neighbor finally posted it on her instagram,, but in "story" form or whatever that shows for a split second and now its not there. Her boyfriend declined a radio show interview to clear his name but has refused to share hos flier- i responded back to become verified and Im unsure if I am yet. I gave this site a break for a couple of days calling bisinesses in the area Caleb was last seen ,,, seeing if they have any camera footage of that nite,,, out of the many places I called,,, only ONE of them said the police were there last week looking at footage- not to say the police arent doing their job,, and mayhaps I just spoke with people that werent around when they were there.

Bring Caleb Marple Home

MAY 30
UPDATE:

The “find” Caleb fb page shared a very opinionated post in which I’m not sure what the entire story entails or specifics around it, but the page (author) did share the following:
Jensen Lewis and his “lady friend” were at the bar with Caleb. Jensen Lewis is one of the last people who spoke/was seen with Caleb.
“They went TOGETHER.”
“This wasn’t someone he (JL) just saw at a bar.”
“Him and his lady friend hung out with Caleb (at bar)”
BBM
*Jensen Lewis = former professional baseball player; current sports anchor

I may be totally looking over it, but is the date/day Caleb’s sister visited his house & retrieved the phone shared anywhere?
I know it’s been shared that it was a day or two after he went missing before the neighbor communicated with his sister, but I was looking for a specific date.

Bring Caleb Marple Home

The info shared by the fb page on May 30 just may explain why the neighbor’s name or her boyfriend’s name hasn’t been mentioned in initial reports & articles. (MOO)
It may also have something to do with why they weren’t involved in searching either. (Again, MOO).

@GraceG
I’m sure you’re as busy as can be but I feel like you prob could make some sense out of all the tidbits of info shared so far or offer a couple of opinions you may have formed about Caleb’s MP case! :):D
