The flow is southern? The Cuyahoga River flows into Lake Erie which is north.

Apparently it flows both south and north due to its U-shaped direction.

I’ve been going back through the fb for Caleb and rereading posts and info shared by family.

On a July 1 post it was shared by family (admin) that the night Caleb was at the Barley House it was “reservation only.”
With reservations, a bar would need a reservation list, correct?
Surely LE obtained that list and questioned people to see what they may have witnessed!

Unless the bar offered the "reservation only" detail, the police might not have known to ask for a list. It doesn't seem that the BH has been overly helpful to this point. So, I wouldn't bank on them having reviewed a list. AMOO

Do you think a reservation list is something a bar or restaurant would keep on file for a period of time?

And I agree, it seems as if Barley House hasn’t been the most open and helpful since the beginning or at least that’s my opinion as well.
But if him getting kicked out the bar, jumped, and sadly being found in the river are all connected or mere effects of the various events that took place, then that may be one reason they’re not being very helpful.
I’m not saying that’s true & I don’t even know if I think it’s true...just throwing out ideas.

I’ve never been to Cleveland (or Ohio for that matter); I’m over 900 miles away! So I have no knowledge of the area Caleb was last seen & found in.
Is the area considered a safe area? Is it a trendy, up & coming area? I’m sure it’s constantly busy being a large city. Is it an older part of the city? More commercial, residential, or a balance of both?

Just trying to get an idea of what the atmosphere may have been in the area at the time Caleb left Barley House....wondering how safe it was in general from the bar, to the Archer Apartments, then down to the river...

The place he was found, near the strip club, is quite a distance from the Archer Apartments. I posted a google map a while back, it's probably a couple of pages back.

BH and the Archer Apts are on the East Bank of the Flats. It's a fairly safe area most of the time. It's bordered by downtown Cleveland, which is well taken care of. There are high rent luxury apartments in the area. That said, you occasionally read about fights in the parking lots, etc. outside of the upscale bars in the area.

The location where Caleb was found is next to Christie's Cabaret, a strip club on the West Bank of the Flats. Most of the property and some businesses there are owned by the Jacobs family, who also own the Cleveland Indians pro baseball team. Generally, Cleveland police will be in the area until the businesses close for the night. I don't recall the timeline, but if he was seen near Christie's Cabaret before it closed, Cleveland PD or security guards probably would have noticed him wandering around.

Hard to say, as mentioned before, this was the first night that bars were open in greater Cleveland area after a weeks-long COVID 19 shut down. There were a lot of people out drinking late that night and at least one other, like Caleb, drowned that night after drinking too much and wandering around the marinas and businesses in the river area.

He was last seen on the West Bank of the flats on Center St. and Washington Ave.

Caleb was last seen in downtown Cleveland leaving The Barley House shortly after 12am, and is believed to have been on foot heading towards the areas of the Archer Apartment Building or Center Street Bridge.

We are particularly interested in footage from 5.18.20 Sunday night (technically early Monday morning), between the hours of of 12am to 5am.

At this point, we know he was at that intersection, but have no additional footage of which direction he traveled from that point.

video is being requested for the specific time frame (12am-5am) because Caleb was last spotted at Washington & Center at 12:30pm; we lost him from that point forward.

Looking at these two sections of info I posted, Caleb left Barley House shortly after 12am & made it to Washington & Center at 12:30am.
We now know there was an altercation in which Caleb was jumped by a group of people sometime in between that time frame if it occurred at Archer Apartments.

According to the fb page, when Caleb was jumped by 4-6 people it was at the Archer building.

If this group of people worked at Barley house as @Liannalei suggested does this mean they followed him over to the Archer building and jumped him?

Same if the group were just patrons at the bar or friends of the other person who also go kicked out?

Or was this a total random occurrence where Caleb was at the wrong place, wrong time & got jumped/mugged?

There is an alley that connects Barley to Archer. Caleb walked the opposite way, we believe the group took the alley, which would explain why Caleb ended up coming up behind them. According to the report the men asked Caleb "you following us?" Caleb said "no", the man said "then get the eff out of my face" and body slammed him. This is the westlake police report.

I haven't listened to it yet, but it starts right around 1 hr 26 minutes

Ok, I didn't take notes, but here's some of the new info:

They interviewed the private investigator who has been working on the case. He has sued the city of Cleveland for access to the police reports about the incident. He received some a while back, but this past week received another tranche of documents.

There's a lot in these police reports that the family wasn't told about. A lot of people were interviewed. Police do know who the guys were who fought Caleb. The fight was very violent, with at least two guys ganging up on Caleb, slamming his head to the sidewalk.

It was reported that there was video of Caleb on the bridge on the West Bank of the Flats, but others are saying there is no video, it was simply the word of a Cleveland policeman who said he saw a guy over there who he thought was Caleb.

Police interviewed some girls who were with the guys who beat up Caleb. They all went upstairs to someone's apartment (Archer St Apartments) after the fight and talked about it. The girls then said the two guys got up and left, like there was something they had to do.

Other notes in the file were from police interviewing a male witness. They were pressuring him to talk about what he saw or knew. He became flustered and said "I don't know what they did with the body". Hard to interpret exactly what that meant or if the guy was upset, but there seems to be more and more to the story.

These are just my notes from memory, they could be inaccurate. I was multi-tasking while listening and didn't take notes. There will probably be more at the Facebook page for Caleb linked above.

We need some links for the timeline above, but the same timeline was mentioned in the radio interview. It doesn't add up to Caleb being able to walk all the way over to the West Bank of the Flats in time for him to have been spotted by the officer, especially considering he had just been badly beaten.

It's plausible that he could have been badly beaten, sustaining a serious brain injury that resulted in his disorientation and later death.

ETA: Also, praise to the Westlake PD. They did a good job of conducting their own investigation in Cleveland PD's jurisdiction.

3News Investigates: The curious death of Westlake's Caleb Marple | wkyc.com

Now, surveillance cameras and witness statements are raising more questions, suggestions that Marple may have been critically injured during an attack that left a man dripping blood.

•A minute after midnight, after being asked to leave by bar workers, he walks out alone, down Johnson Court to West 9th Street.
•Within about 10 minutes, he’s involved in a confrontation
•Video shows the group of six to eight people entering the Archer. One man is seen ducking head from camera view and noticeably dripping blood from his hand.
•Marple walked along the East Bank of the river along Robert Lockwood Jr. Drive south and eventually to Center Street, where he crossed the bridge.
•More surveillance cameras spot him near Sycamore Street, not far from Christie’s Caberet at 1180 Main Ave. on the West Bank of the Flats. That’s the last that he’s seen alive.

Police Report
Witnesses who talked to police tried to downplay the encounter, police reports show. One man is accused by police of lying about the encounter. After initially saying Marple was merely pushed, a witness conceded Marple was “body slammed” onto an asphalt parking lot.

Video shows the group of six to eight people entering the Archer. One man is seen ducking head from camera view and noticeably dripping blood from his hand. A woman who follows points to the spots dropped onto the indoor steps.

In a police report, a man said he “didn’t know where they put his body” before saying “if there is even something like that.” He told police to check the water because intoxicated people usually head that way, the report shows.
