A Columbus woman died after she was stabbed while trying to save her grandchildren from a convicted sex offender (...)

Candy Arthurs, 45, was with her two grandchildren, Jeremy Mullins, 7, and Kourtnee Mullins, 8, when they were approached by Kristopher T. Amos, 29.

Amos asked the trio if they would help him search for a lost drone. While the family was helping Amos, he led the two children into an alley.

Arthurs realized what was going on, and confronted Amos. That’s when Amos allegedly stabbed her in the heart with a large knife and also stabbed Jeremy in the shoulder (...)

Columbus police said Arthurs “pushed the children to safety” and helped the kids run home.

Thank you Candy. :-(

Thank goodness she was brave. I hate to think what would have happened to those kids if she had been more reticent or unaware. I hope her family finds comfort.

From 27 December 2017:
Thirty-year-old Kristopher Amos pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter Wednesday in the death of 45-year-old Candy Arthurs and felonious assault for stabbing the grandson in his shoulder. The Columbus Dispatch reports he was sentenced to 18 years in prison as part of a plea agreement to forgo a trial.
Same date:
Kristopher T. Amos claimed Wednesday he doesn't remember fatally stabbing a woman and wounding her 7-year-old grandson in a Hilltop alley 18 months ago.
