This makes me wonder. Undisclosed locastion in Vandalia. Where is Vandalia and how far is it from Cheryl's home?

Does anyone else get the vibe that other evidence may have been found in the past that LE has not shared with the public, that has lead them to that area?
It's about 5 miles North, slightly West of Riverside.

All I know is that LE wouldn't have Equusearch searching there without very good reason IMO.

ETA I'm still in the camp who thinks Equusearch found evidence when they said they did in their earlier search. Even though LE later claimed they didn't.

I think they found something, too. I also think there's more evidence than what LE has told. Keeping fingers crossed for Cheryl.

I also wondered what was meant by the comment about (paraphrasing) "we're in the right church, we just have to find the right pew."
I took that to mean Vandalia is the suspected area, but just where exactly in Vandalia is unknown" but I suppose it could actually mean anything; Dayton area in general, wooded or field area in general etc.

Do we know the approximate area in Vandalia that they were searching? Cheryl lived on Chelsea Dr. In Riverside, correct; or am I having a brainfart/confusing cases?

According to Google maps, Chelsea Drive in Riverside to Vandalia, Ohio is 14.3 miles/19 mins drive. But I'm unsure what the exact address in Vandalia was, so the distance could be off some, as I believe Google maps takes you to the center of town if you don't input a specific address.

There's Taylorsville Metro Park in Vandalia with some wooded areas.

First off Cheryl’s home is on a Cristy Lane in Riverside,

Vandelia, is a nice little city, it has a lot of farm and wooded areas, plus a lot of the area is consumed by the Dayton International Airport, I live about 3/4 mile from Cheryl’s home, and for me to get to the airport from my home takes roughly 15 minutes....it would be a good area(s) for “disposal” due to openness...

the little Kroger store in Riverside made the news last evening, somebody called a Riverside PD about a man with a gun in the parking lot, when police arrived, the suspect engaged in a gun battle in the store parking lot, then ensueing chase, through the neighborhoods, all I know is my neighborhood had vehicle checks on the road outside my home, and the military had working dog teams patrolling the neighborhood, the neighborhood is going to crap, fast.....Cheryl’s mom just lives across the street from the Kroger...

Unfortunately, we can't discuss why Vandalia is the search area because there is no MSM link to provide. However, FB groups explain why that area is significant.

I went to the DOJ websites to query that question, of why LE would tell a family not to search, ....all I can gather is even though the police have a named suspect, as per in this case, they the police may have found additional evidence that when exposed may indict other family members in the commission of the crime or coverup of such crime...

in Cheryl’s case, I do believe and it’s only an opinion that other family members do have a working knowledge of the crime, and are either afraid, been threatened, or just plain embarrassed on The Who, What and Where of the crime....

I am going to say it, I know there planning a memorial service for the 2nd of Oct, which is a loving gesture to mark this anniversary, but what happens on the 3 rd of Oct, back to sitting in the backseat..

please don’t take my comments wrong, from personal experience I want them to fight ( like my dad and I did for my moms aunt), stay focused , put your big boy pants on and stop being quiet, ......stop being afraid, to me being afraid in cases like this means your afraid of outcome....they owe to a Cheryl, to be strong, standup, stop hiding, and get in front of this.....if they got out in front of this publicly, the public will respond with positive actions to solve.....
If it wasn’t for my dad and I putting our big boy pants on, our case would have never been solved......

I just don’t want them being hypocritical on the 2nd, silient again on the 3rd

Search team thinks they’re “one step away” from finding Cheryl Coker (with clip)

Sep 28, 2019

"VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) – Saturday, a team of more than 80 people resumed the search for missing Riverside woman, Cheryl Coker. The team of volunteers consisted of Texas Equusearch members from Indiana and Kentucky, police academy cadets and people from the general public.

“They have one of their own that’s missing, they take this stuff personally and they want to find her for the family,” said Dave Rader, director of the Midwest-Ohio chapter of Texas Equusearch.

Rader says he feels confident that their search efforts in an undisclosed location in Vandalia will bring them closer to finding Coker.

“We’re one step away. I think we’re in the right church but we [have] to find the right pew,” explained Rader...."

Oh Wow!

Did either of the two daughters participate in the search?

I hate to say something sarcastic, but when they mention the right church are they meaning the Vandalia area, or Dayton as a whole, and the pews could be one of the many little cities around us, if law enforcement is holding their card hand on what they can hopefully find, they don’t have much of a case.......

I have been digging through so much legal mambo jumbo on line , my head hurts, I still don’t see why they just don’t have their so called suspect be there guest for 72 hours, and they can reminisce about last October, it doesn’t hurt their case, the law clearly states they can question him for that period of time, if they don’t charge him after that visit , he’s still the suspect, but out of his comfort zone..

By the way what was the suspect doing this weekend, staying at home watching football.....

maybe I am getting frustrated with this case, or it’s me I haven’t been feeling good lately , all indicators are looking at another heart surgery, #6 , oh boy...I did have what my doctor said I had was a minor heart attack the other day,
Oh no. Sorry to hear that you've had a heart attack. Maybe next surgery will make everything A-OK. Take care of yourself !

In some cases LE doesn't want to risk any evidence being handled by family members. Remember that this is a criminal investigation, not just a missing person investigation. Even the locals who volunteer are trained what to look for, how to look for it and what to do if they find anything.

There's also compassion. Rader said they were looking for small bones. LE and search organizations do not want family members and loved ones to be exposed to viewing decomposed, skeletal remains of their sister, daughter, mother or grandmother. Neither do I.

Cheryl's family has done interviews, vigils, balloon releases, etc. IMO it's cold and callous, not to mention against WS TOS to continually ridicule the victim's family members. On WS they are victims too. IMO they aren't hypocrites just because they aren't doing things your way.

My apologies for the incorrect street address. I tried to look up the approximate distance from there to Vandalia but nothing pulled up on Google for Cristy Lane in Riverside. There is a Christy Ave. In Riverside, is that perhaps her correct street?
If so, it's appx. 16.8 miles/22 mins. to Vandalia.

Small bones.....

Dare I ask (or even wonder) why there wouldn't be large bones to be on the lookout for?

Actually he said "something as small as a small bone". I'm not sure exactly what he means by that. He said it in video here.

Ah okay, Thanks for the link! I originally thought it meant small bones =there would be no large bones; which had me really scratching my head.

Glad to read they will be back again soon. I really hope it's because they are close to something!

Indeed. After several months of going by without any searches or word from LE, it is great to see something going again on Cheryl's case.

I am not ridiculing the family , it’s a statement of truth, other than the vigil for the billboard and ballon launch they have been silient.....

I’m sorry a serious crime has occurred within their family walls, well-come to life, but a fairy genie with a special wand is not going to solve it, they have to get out everyday in the public view to gain the sympathy of the public,
John Q Public has a very short attention span, in our society today, they have to make it personal.....

Equusearch schedules Cheryl Coker search for Saturday and Sunday

Those interested in participating in the search should meet at the command center at 8:30 am. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and bring a valid I.D. It is suggested volunteers take a lunch or snacks for the day and to dress appropriately for thick, wooded areas.

This probably isn't related but I wonder if Cheryl's mom was evacuated.
Standoff continuing in Riverside involving Montgomery County SWAT

RIVERSIDE —

UPDATE @ 8:47 p.m.: Some homes have been evacuated as a result of the standoff that is occurring on Gleneagle Drive in Riverside.

Other residents in the immediate area have been told to stay in their homes, News Center 7’s Sean Cudahy reports.

"Hopefully he comes out soon. He has, obviously no option. The whole neighborhood is full of police. He has nowhere to go," said Peter Qumsiych, who has lived near the address in question for a number of years.

Yikes! I hope everyone remains safe and sound somewhere.

Do we know if Bill's mom lives in the area? Not sleuthing, just wondering if there's a chance he could be involved.
