Actually in this link from WDTN , location reporting from is given as Vandalia. If you watch all, you will see semi trailers in background of where searchers are. Should give a clue as to why they are in that, area. This is the weekend of 9/28 and 9/29. So there is another search on the next weekend of 10/5 & 10/6. Haven't seen news footage yet from latest search.

Search team thinks they’re “one step away” from finding Cheryl Coker
Thank you- now that there is a link, we can discuss it further.

I have been thinking today about this case, and I hope what the Texas group is stating is true, I started thinking that in this Dayton area are the most stupid, dangerous drivers in America, there isn’t a day that goes by that there isn’t a fatal vehicle accident in this area, there was one just 50 feet from my home, your probably wondering where I am going with this, ..
With the odds of getting seriously hurt or killed on our roads, we better hope that our number suspect has got god on his side on the roads, if anything bad ever happens on the road , the mystery of Cheryl’s disappearance and disposal will go with him....

I think it’s time for the police to start leaning on him....

I fear when I drive around here......just a thought

We don't know what evidence they have or don't have. We don't know if they've gone to the Grand Jury. We know sealed documents have been filed so everything is not available to the public.
Another Websleuths case I've been following since the beginning, Danielle Stislicki, disappeared Dec 2 2016. Danielle has still not been found. Last seen leaving work. LE was giving updates but not releasing evidence resulting from search warrants or any eyewitness reports. I don't think anyone knew of any evidence for sure but there were rumors. This happened in a suburban district of Detroit. There was a person named as suspect but never arrested and charged. Forward to the elections and a new State of Michigan Attorney General nearly 2 yrs later. The state attorney general somehow reviewed the case and decided there was enough to charge the original suspect who was now imprisoned on charges resulting from another case. This case has recently proceeded to a preliminary hearing and defendant has been bound over for trial in Danielle's murder.
I can't imagine why local jurisdiction did not arrest this man to begin with. It seems to me evidence revealed at preliminary hearing is substantial and so must the judge have felt it was enough to bind defendant over for trial.
So I don't necessarily assume there isn't a lot of evidence in Cheryl's case that is in the hands of LE. It would nice if "someone else" could review the case.

I know when you read the other sites they think the prosecutor can try the case without a body,I know they reference Clinton County Prosecuter Rick Moyer, and when he was able to do it..

they have to realize one thing, they have NO rock solid evidence to prove William did it,if they did they would have in custody, they still don’t know if she left on her own, is there someone else involved, too many what ifs.

so it’s up to the Texas group, if they come up empty , case closed......

The above postings is square on, the biggest problem with Cheryl’s case is I think the police had this “ we really don’t care attitude “ in the beginning, especially with this so called “open marriage” crap, I think they were slow on the draw searching the home, they should have brought cadeavor dogs in the home, they should have sealed the home and kept it as a crime scene longer, what was the hurry to release it back..
And if William , suspect, actually committed this crime, he sure outwitted them, or basically got away with murder....

I reside in Riverside and don’t have a warm fuzzy on this police force, there’s been too many bungles, especially the case of the idiot who stole the cruiser and cost the lives of two little girls, the dash cam video of the attempted takedown prior to the theft of cruiser is a joke and hard to watch....it’s a shame two little girls had to die for no reason...

I saw a article on WHIO , Riverside PD had released the police cam of the car chase that started with the shooting in the Kroger parking lot , the same lot where Cheryl’s SUV was found, I watched the video , I saw my home in the video as the suspect was shooting out the back window of his car, damn that was close, since I am only about 50 feet from the road....

also I stopped at the Kroger yesterday, and Cheryl’s missing persons poster is NO longer posted, the board is filled with garage sales, so as we start year two , the public moved on , can’t be bothered anymore...

As we start year two, I personally believe William is scot free, he outsmarted law enforcement, and I don’t believe he did it all by himself..

would it be possible at this point in the conjuncture, for the family to ask the state of Ohio , to have the case reinvestigated by another agency, I am not being disrespectful towards theRiverside PD but I think they bungled this case so bad that there is no way for them to save face..

they need to lick their wounds and pass this onto fresh eyes, and a prosecution team that’s willing to take the case foreword and not worrying about perception ....

it’s a shame that Cheryl is looking down on this mess knowing she will be never be found.....god love her.....her family and the system has let her down.......especially her family...

I wish someone local could have access to flyers and be kind enough to hang some around, now would be a good time, since she has somewhat been back in the news. At least locally the news did remind people on the anniversary of her missing, that this still hasn't been solved nor has she been found.

John Q Public has Avery short attention span today, and with a Christmas approx. 80 days away, the public is too busy with their worlds..

this is what happens when LE , the family, and just searching for a missing person is slow out of the gates, in the beginning....

the case was not handled right from the beginning , that’s why I think it’s time for this case to be handed off to state investigators, which is not much better, but a set of fresh eyes could not hurt..

I reside on Wright Patterson AFB, which this part of the base is in a Riverside, I get the sense that Riverside is really not equipped to do much either Police or Fire, so when serious crimes like Cheryls they get bungled, where my home is located I technically have a front row seat, and when there is a serious car wreck, fires, serious crime, the base FD handles a lot of a Riverside calls, they are constantly screaming by my home and the military police seem to be always first on scene for accidents and crimes, the one good thing the base has the OSI or the military Version of the FBI to take over crime investigations..
This is the type of system the civilian world needs from the minute a crime is reported, in a perfect world if the OSI would have been involved in Cheryl’s case from the first minute, I think it would have been resolved a long time ago, so my family and other military families residing on a military installation we have a added layer of law enforcement, and nothing would be bungled....

it’s a damn shame that Cheryl’s case enters year two, and it’s as cold as a block of ice......

the other case I am following is the Pike Co murders, the Rhonden family eight members murdered, what’s irritating is the slowness of the prosecution , the suspects will die of old age in jail before they even see a court room......so Montegomery Cty and Pike Cty are about the same , there prosecution teams are afraid to take leaps to seek justice.....

it’s irritating.....

I hate to say it, but I agree with @tooltimetim . This case has gone cold. Ice cold.

I am going to say I told you so, they made a big deal of Cheryl’s one year anniversary, the Texas group searched for two days , nothing, the family observed the 2nd of October , then total silience, I have a “news flash” for them , get out hit the streets, my suggestion make up a flyer with her photo, the suspects photo, and pertenant info from the case, go down to UPS , make a “million” copies and start going door to door in their neighborhood, all the way up to the Kroger store, the family or close friends need to bang on doors, talk to everyone, and just maybe they will run into someone who remembers a small detail, you never know...
After reviewing the first year the family cannot put all there stock in what the police do or say, at this point the police could care less.....the City of a Riverside is made up of 9 square miles and lately the crime has increased , believe me I live around it and see it everyday....
I don’t have much faith in the prosecutors around here, they botched the Richardson case ( young girl who killed her baby and burned the child) she belongs to be in prison, what happens when she gets pregnant again? She going to kill that child too..
The suspect who stole the police cruiser that ended up killing two 6 year girls, all the family and system are worried is him, stating he did not mean to stab his father , steal cruiser and kill two young girls, WHAT THE HELL, it’s like the baby or these two girls lives are worthless....
So unless the family hits the streets, why should anyone else care if they don’t.....

Interestingly, that other case I mentioned as being very similar to Cheryl's case (the case of Krista Sypher) that husband's trial starts Monday, it's a no body trial.

Trial begins Monday for husband charged with wife's disappearance and death

Not trying to take away from Cheryl's case (they are indeed very similar- money missing, was with husband that morning then returned home then poof! Gone. Both were seeing people outside their marriage, and the husband reported a sum of money missing and told cops she probably ran off with her boyfriend, also LE/investigators who don't deal with many homicides in that town. Many, many similarities.

Perhaps if this no body trial goes well it might give some hope for Cheryl still receiving justice, even if she's also never found?

Still Missing - WI - Krista Sypher, 44, Plover, 13 March 2017 *arrest*

I hope that trial goes smooth in that town , I do give them a lot of credit for advancing and taking a chance, it’s nice to see a town where they believe in justice and not politics, PC , or people afraid to step foreword..

I am not going to sound sarcastic, but in this area, I am afraid if he’s arrested and on trial for Cheryl’s murder, there will be factions, people and this left leaning PC Dayton area, that HE will become the victim and Cheryl the bad guy.
I picture them making him a angel, tucking him in at night, cookies and milk, and draw his bath,

like I said earlier, with other cases, it was the babies fault, another it was the two little girls fault, in Pike co it was the murdered family of eight for refusing child visitation rights, I could keep going but I would fill 30 more posts...

Not Cheryl. Bones found in burned out garage identified
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) -- Bones found in a burned out garage have been identified as Kwasi Casey. The coroner said the cause and manner of his death have not been determined.

I’m sorry if I sound like a “Debbie downer”, but I follow a lot of cases and crimes, and it’s irritating how the cases are covered in the news, and the wheel of justice fell off the trailer...
My bitterness started during the murder investigation of my moms aunt, and secondly when I returned home after my first war deployment to deal with punks harassing my family while I was gone, well I confronted the lead punk, he landed a cheap shot , but I returned the favor with two good head blows, and he ran like a coward, when I called police and describing the punk , I was warned by the police that my physical description of punk was racist, so even back then the system protected the bad guys ..

so even if and that’s a big if , if our suspect goes to trial , I guess he will get off , claiming he’s the victim......so buckle your seatbelts boys and girls...getting justice for our missing is non exsistent......what a damn shame...

I can't argue with you on that, tim. It took a friend of mine's family over 40 plus years to see justice for her brother who was murdered. By then, two got off on something silly, and one is still serving time. In my friend's brother's case, they found her brother's body, knew who did it, but couldn't prove it. I could rant on and on about this myself, but I won't. Still hurts me to know what her family went through all those years. I totally understand where you're coming from and I understand your passion to give a voice to the victims, to give them dignity and respect, to be thought of, and justice served.

Thanks a Steelslady, I am glad that I not the only one sees reality ,
Not to put down the police, but when I review and follow cases, I get the feeling if they cannot solve it within the first 72 hours, they lose interest very fast, and lose interest faster when the crime is internal to the family, hence this open marriage bull crap...

and yes ,I verified from my sister who is a legal aid from a large New York State City, that county prosecutors, yes indeed worry about their “win / loss” columns, that win only cases have priority to protect their careers....

it’s a shame that our entire justice is driven by politics, especially if a crime is committed by a person of color or illegal against a white, it’s automatic today, the political justice system circles the wagons to protect the bad guys, just look at the news when a serious crime is committed, the news makes you guess on description on suspect, unless there white
In Cheryl’s case sometimes I wonder with the open marriage issue how far does that circle extend, how many men or women want their identities protected and complained to the police to keep it hidden.

like for example here in Montegomery County, the legal system is making a big deal over a trial of a demolition contractor who was accused of illegal dumping, this is a political hitjob..., like who cares, I wish the system would have this same interest in murder or missing persons cases....

And I meant what I stated above, when I first heard about Cheryl’s disappearance, and when this open marriage issue came up , I felt like it put a dirty shadow over this case,
I really don’t care what people do behind closed doors, but when their lives become the news over a serious crime the privacy is gone.
It makes you wonder how wide the circle is on her side or his, I can beta million bucks that the circle players in this open marriage definately want this a secret to protect their family or professional lives ( what a joke), then it goes to that big question , did one of these players have a part in this or were responsible for, I know the police released pretty basic statements about cooperation , but that could also be a cover for the truth hidden under the surface....
Law enforcement needs to look deeper into this “open marriage” individuals to ensure this is not part of a human trafficking group, prositition rings or have some of the external players been part of other missing persons cases, believe me there’s enough missing girls and women from this area..
Do you think that the police are just acting stupid while secretly working with other agencies on a investigation that might tie Cheryl’s and other cases together......

Speaking of LE's "basic statements" about cooperation, you bring up a good point about what's actually happening behind the scenes and the actual truth. I recall reports early on saying everyone was cooperative, including Bill. Now, a year later, the report insinuates that Bill is continuing to be uncooperative. So which is it?

And from this article:
Police complete search of missing Riverside woman's home (Oct. 9)

"The search of the home was not because of suspicion of foul play at the residence, according to the department’s statement. The search was completed “per standard protocol because Cheryl Coker is believed to have been home after dropping her daughter off at school,” according to the department’s statement."

Clearly no suspicion early on as you've mentioned. So, I take it the items actually collected from the home was on a later search with warrant, I believe which was October 11. So two days later they have suspicions based on new evidence which came to light. And the only thing that really surfaced within that time frame was the video of the black hoodie guy.

No suspicion on him at all in the crucial early days...a man who was in a self-proclaimed open marriage with a pending divorce that the wife filed. And came in to do basic affidavits with his girlfriend. Jeez (eye roll).

Thinking of you Cheryl daily. May something break for your justice and peace soon.

I saw a story on WHIO today that enrages me and it should all of us, a few posts back we mentioned about human remains found in a fire damaged garage, the victims name was Kwai Casey, he was a kidnap victim whose body was found in the burnt out garage in September.

the most disturbing thing about this case is that the Dayton Police Deptis investigating one of there own officers for a comment he posted on his facebook page, in which he said and I quote from the article..

“Karma finally got Kwasi “

this is disgusting, ....it makes you wonder with the cases around the area, is this the real attitude of our police, is this why nothing gets solved, due to there personal inputs about the victim or victims family...

I think we need a DOJ visit to clean out the bad actors...
