Well they better get off their “duffs” and do there job, because it does look like Cheryl’s body is going to turn like magic

Some days ago my mom who is 83 years old , reminded me about a police detective who was good friends with our family, he has since long retired and I was able to speak with him last night, he agreed as long as I don’t use his name , so he doesn’t have to come out of “retirement”
I spoke to him about Cheryl’s case, he stated the following:
1) the home is still a crime scene but inactive, which means they can be back with a warrant any time, or to use existing warrant to doublecheck from previous visits
2) Cheryl’s lawyer is not doing a good job, there definately should be a restraining order keeping the girlfriend out of the house, she could be a potential POI
3) he was puzzled that the police have not made William come down to station and keep reviewing his previous statements, he stated he used to do this to keep the potential POI from getting too comfortable, his actions or statements could change, numerous visits are the name of the game
They should be hauling him in frequently, as of now he’s too comfortable
4) yes the daughters should have lawyers, especially the minor, he said she could be easily swayed
5) he said to keep a potential suspect on there toes, is that would show up at their employment for a chat
6) he stated the DA should convene a grand jury with evidence already collected and statements to test the waters if he could get a bill of indictment, if lucky this could blow case wide open
7) he thinks Cheryl is definately deceased, and very nearby, in a area that he knows very well.
8) he stated with police bothering him for statement verification visits he will get angry and slip up and then could be charged for lying on a police statement.
My friend gave me some third party insight from a retired detective

Additional notes from the retired detective friend which I thought were interesting:
1) he stated when Cheryl went missing on 2 oct, and the police searched the home, he would have kept the home sealed pending further investigation since this was probably where the killing took place, I asked him how long he would have kept it sealed, he stated until conclusion of case, and as per family , he explains below
2) he would have insisted that temporary custody of the minor child be assigned to older daughter, Cheryl’s sister, or Cheryl’s mom, he thought the best bet would have been the sister who resides in Florida, this way the minor is safely out of the picture
He also stated since he is looking like the main suspect, allowing him to be in the home, be with the minor child is dangerous, he said that what bothers him is when the day comes he is indicted for her murder, kidnapping, assault and battery, and various other cr8mes, that the minor child could be in danger as a hostage, or if he is really nuts harm her with the attitude if I can’t have her no one would
3) he did classify him as a danger, very unstable man, unpredictable
4) as per where he would go if home was sealed pending, the detective stated that’s his problem, plus it goes back to make him uncomfortable in his surroundings...

I had a nice discussion concerning the case from a former detective it was very nice to hear what a professional thinks, I think he was straight on about the home, that once the initial search took place the home should have been sealed, because all evidence indicates that it’s the initial crime scene, and letting him , William and his girlfriend live there makes no sense to contaminate a scene in the event further evidence is needed, they still have her SUV the house should have been included,
I had made the statement to him after he made the statement, a home would be sealed if you fail to pay your mortgage , fail to pay taxes, but commit a murder , and you get to stay, doesn’t make sense.
Second his comment about the minor child, I also do agree that Barb should have temporary custody in Florida until this case is resolved, just to keep her safe. I do feel that a man who could murder his wife, the child’s daughter, and profess his love for both is unstable and dangerous, I certainly hope the day the police finally arrest him, that they do it outside the home where no one else can be hurt, I am guessing if they tried to intiate an arrest at home , he may have hidden weapons , and it would turn into a SWAT scene.
He was very surprised that her attorney did not file a restraining order to keep the girlfriend out of the home, her current presence in and out of the home is a slap in Cheryl’s face
I realize William has rights, but Cheryl has rights until her status is made more clear then probate would take over.
Marissa and the minor child need legal representation just to ensure William does not manipulate Cheryl’s assets, 401k, her share of the home, from the Hands of William,
Remember in past posts he keeps proclaiming his love for Cheryl, pretty shalow from the possible murder suspect, he claims to love his minor daughter, but lies straight in her eyes everyday, the $4000, the injury to his arms, the posting where he tried to run her off the road, wanting Cheryl out of the home before he returns from Florida, his refusal to do lie detector, his overall silience,
Someone like I just descibed I think would take everything for himself and the daughters would get nothing
The former detective was very surprised and the more he outlined the more I agree, they the police took initial statements from William and the family, if he is leading the list as prime POI, the police need to bring him in on a irregular basis to keep going over his statement of events, to catch irregularities , or lies , and after a while he will get upset, maybe lose his temper just like he probably did that fateful day and convict himself, right now he thinks he is in the drivers seat, very cocky to the point the girlfriend is spending time at the home, this chip on his shoulder needs to be knocked off.
I do agree with my contact and think if we are ever going to find Cheryl, big changes need to take place, at the present rate Cheryl is just a memory....

Been thinking does anyone think that William being the possible POI, has revisited the site where he has dumped her , to ensure she hasn’t been detected or moved her.
I seriously think with the start of new year the older daughter Marissa and sister Barb need to start making a lot of noise, about her disappearance and I know a reward brings out “crazies” but all it takes is one good tip, money seems to jog peoples memories.
Also that billboard sure helped in finding that missing young boy who witnessed his fathers murder at the claypool building parking lot, oddly that murder /disappearance occurred less than a mile from Cheryl’s home, how ironic....

Does anyone know if Mr Bill, is living the Ward Cleaver life with his replacement “wife”,
Does anyone know and this question is pretty hard how is the minor child doing in school, has there been many absentees, grades failing, etc.. since her mom disappeared
Does anyone know if they belonged to a church, if so any gossip groups within.
The minor child still have her circle of friends or did that thin out due to other parents keeping a safe distance due to investigation
How is Mr Bill going to file their 2018 taxes this year, I doubt Cheryl gave him power of attorney for anything, since they are married filing jointly, and let’s say they get a refund how can Cheryl’s rights be protected so he does not assume the refund is totally his, even though we know she’s not coming back, her half of this refund would go to her estate.

These are all great questions; I wish we knew more.
I'm sure their daughter is struggling without mom. She may be comforted by having the GF around -- strange as that may seem. They just vacationed together; perhaps she's used to having her around, regardless of how gross that seems in the big picture.

Mr. Bill has to be crapping in his pants every day. He may come off cocky in his day to day, but I can't imagine he's comfortable inside. I guess it depends on how confident he is in his dump site, IF he is responsible (and LE has given us no other POI).

I will say that I lose a little bit of hope each passing day.

I still wonder about the other "men and women" in their marriage that LE has been extensively interviewing. I'm glad they're cooperating, unlike Mr. Bill. If he's at all innocent, he does a great job painting a picture of guilt.

Wyome, thanks for responding back I like your responses to the questions.
On your last question , I have seen this statement mentioned before, about “men and women” , is this public knowledge and how long has it been an issue, and the police have been extensively interviewing,
I know it’s far fetched is it possible that the POI the police are referring to is one of these individuals could be the actual suspect.
What I see as funny that LE has been extensively interviewing them but I don’t hear the Police referring extensively interviewing Mr Bill,
And as per your statement about the comfort factor of the minor child, I still think like the retired detective stated the minor child SHOULD NOT be associated with two possible suspects, Mr Bill and the girlfriend.

I see where the retired detective feels like that, what they are doing on a daily basis is Witness Tampering, and I am surprised this was allowed to happen, I am going to be gut honest I feel this case has been bungled from day one , and they can’t turn time back to fix mistakes

Also on the Riverside PD Facebook page they ask for help on many cases including Cheryl’s,
They have to remember this is a two way street, they ask for public’s help, but in return they need to give the public updates and info, to keep the public’s interest in the case, they should have shown photos of mr bills vehicle in the beginning, to see if anyone saw it, photos of any potential suspects , the public probably saw more than than what we think that fateful day, example, if they would have shown a photo of mr bill, the girlfriend maybe someone would have recognized a key event in the beginning, like I say someone could have walked past a susp3ct or POI that day and never knew it,unless educated

If I was Mr Bills attorney , and I knew he was innocent, I would insist on 100% coorperation, take a lie detector test, clarify and verify my statement, even though he me be a jerk because of the his girlfriend, but a innocent man in this type of case does not have a zipper sewn on his mouth, he should be leading the pack , yell from the roof tops and help solve this case if not for himself but for the minor child

Silience to me yells I am guilty as sin.

I think the police would love it if he gave them a formal interview, but any attorney worth his/her salt would insist he didn't speak to them at all, or at least without the attorney present. The fact that LE's labeled him a POI, to me, means that they're not fact gathering at this point, but rather trying to build a case against him; hence, his lawyer will continue to insist on his silence.

I can find no article that states that Bill ever even was formally interviewed by LE early on. I know he's made some statements to police, but I don't get the sense he was ever interrogated extensively. So I assume he lawyered up pretty quickly; I presume way before he was labeled a POI, which I think comes across as deceptive.

I found some articles from friends for Cheryl, they had a pretty detailed diary of events, which was four pages long, very interesting read,
I also was reviewing our notes especially concerning how he injuries his hand.
I believe when he lied about how he hurt his arms, by first blaming a forklift accident at Costco, did not report , then retracted,
Seriously I think Costco had grounds to FIRE him right there, first by saying he hurt himself on the job without reporting it, second lying to the police, about the injury, just for lying which would be considered lying on a police report, and falsely blaming Costco, he should have been fired on the spot, for standards of conduct, plus I can bet when he processed in after being employed by Costco I can guarantee there was a job safety brief, and I bet he had to sign paperwork concerning getting injuries on job, so he violated that. Believe me these companies take OSHSA laws very seriously.
You state they are building a case, what time line do you expect, short of God’s hand with his finger pointing from heaven to where Cheryl is dumped, I don’t see what they have to build on that they did not uncover in october

Wyome, your first sentence above stating mr Bill was formerly interviewed by police, this goes back to what I wrote earlier, the police need to randomly, request his presence, and randomly visit him at work, they need to set the tone, tip him off balance , make him consistently watch his back, remember they can hold him legally for 24-96 hours, even though he may be silient, just the presence of being in “custody” at random times to clarify things, if he is labelled POI they can do this

  • #553
Tooltime, can you PM me the articles written by friends of Cheryl? (Or the website info, rather). I didn't know he recanted his story about getting injuries to his arms in a forklift accident. WTH??

You're right, that's grounds for termination. But because of the crap storm going on, I think Costco just wrote him up and is biding their time and keeping him employed as a favor to LE as they do their job. Less of a flight risk, I assume, if he maintains steady employment.

Her estate goes to him, by law. So it won't matter. That said, he can't file a joint return because she can't sign it. So he has to file a married filing single return. As for Cheryl, her return won't get filed and there are penalties for non-filing even if you don't owe income taxes.

If you're owed a refund, the government does not penalize you for not filing or filing late unless you wait over 3 years. At that point you can still file but you forfeit your refund.

Also, I don't think the police can just bring him in and hold him for 96 hours like mentioned above. They would have to charge him with something, right? JMO.

  • #557
In mr bills case police can pick him up for 8 hours of questioning, if they request a longer visit, they get court ok for 24-96 hours more, if not officially arrested you are subject to future visits at any time
Mr bill right now being a POI, seems pretty cocky, by doing this they bring the crime up and personal, keep double checking his original statement, where discrepancies can be noted and advance case

But if he has, in fact, lawyered up, and exercises his right to remain silent, I don't see why they would bring him in and hold him.

Where did you see that he retracted his statement to police about how he was injured?? I've never seen that anywhere.

  • #560
You cannot keep randomly bring in someone for an interview, once a lawyer has been requested. No court would allow multiple "interviews" of longer than 8 hours to occur. It would start becoming a matter of harassment. They need to be very deliberate and calculating with how they handle William.
