The decedent's NamUs profile has been removed. Hopefully she has been reunited with her loved ones and is resting in peace.
Yes we got what was left. We are getting justice soon

Thank you everyone for all of your support. We all need to stand up for Brandi. They can't prove that this guy killed her bc there was so much of her body burned not much was left. But why would you take someone 40 minutes from the scene if you didn't kill them. This man needs life in prison. I will never give up on Brandi. Drugs held her down. But she didn't deserve to be burned. Myself and her kids could not even say goodbye
I'm so sorry, just must be just devastated. Strength to you all. xx

I'm going to share this with some other members here at Websleuths who have been following the victims that were the subject of the documentary a few years ago about the lost women of Ohio. There have been some past problems with LE in Chillicothe and other areas. This has happened before - drug addicted women being killed and their murders being ignored or killers getting off with light sentences.

It's not surprising they would say that. As the documentary revealed, it's an ongoing problem in Chillicothe and other towns in that area. The problem appears to possibly linked to the police department and the prosecutor's office.

The prosecutor and judge need to explain why the person responsible for Brandi's death is getting little or no punishment. One of the problems revealed in Forgotten Women of Ohio was LE using these drug addicted women to work as informants for them. The drug dealers would find out who the women were and then kill them or make them "disappear". LE would write it off as the women being missing, committed suicide or drug overdose.

Has the person who killed your sister been arrested?

Has the Ross County ME provided you with an autopsy report yet?

Washington court house is charging him not Chillicothe. He is in Fayette county jail

This sounds so much like the cases of murdered women in Ross and Scioto Counties. Hot shots, moving and dumping bodies outdoors. Why did they set her body on fire if they had nothing to do with her death?

When was the suspect arrested? TIA

Provided details from Sutton’s family suggest that her sudden death allegedly occurred in Washington Court House due to a suspected drug overdose at an apartment. Information obtained from sources shows that the police investigation at the time could not definitively determine if she was administered a “hot shot,” a term used to describe a forced overdose. According to sources, detectives have interviewed witnesses who claimed that a male individual accompanying Sutton panicked upon discovering her lifeless body. Allegedly, this individual, along with another male, later transported Sutton’s body to the homeless encampment behind Hobby Lobby, where an attempt was made to set her body on fire. The Guardian reached out to the Ross County Coroner’s Office to learn the cause of death; however, they have refrained from commenting, until speaking with prosecutors, citing a possible ongoing criminal investigation.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but isn't it really hard to destroy a body by burning? Please I mean no disrespect I just question the information provided.

I'm not an expert, but yes it is difficult. Dumb criminals sadly make the mistake of thinking it can be done easily. IIRC, it requires fire with a high temperature and takes a few hours at that.

If, as claimed, Brandi died of an overdose, why would the person who dumped her body try to burn it?

That is a very good question. Are there very strict drug-laws in Ohio when you are associated with a person doing drugs and they die of an overdose? That is the only reason I can think of if people do unspeakable things like this. The only other reason to dump a body and set it on fire to me would be an overdose by the hands of somebody else/murder with a "hot-shot" and the perp was afraid LE somehow could find that out or flipping craziness.

Ohio has some pretty crazy laws, but I doubt this person would have been convicted of any crime had he had called 911 instead. It also seems unlikely he would have been caught if he dumped her body at an abandoned homeless camp in the woods.

From the article.

Sources familiar with the investigation have indicated that the police were unable to definitively determine whether the overdose was administered deliberately, a situation often referred to as a “hot shot.”

Details further suggest that witnesses claimed a male individual who was with Sutton panicked upon discovering her lifeless body. This person, along with another male, allegedly transported Sutton’s body to the homeless encampment behind Hobby Lobby. There, an attempt was reportedly made to set her remains on fire. Despite efforts to gather information, the Ross County Coroner’s Office has chosen to withhold commenting on the cause of death, citing an ongoing criminal investigation.

Charged in connection with the case is Stephen Robert Laplante, who faces several charges including failure to report a death, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. Laplante has been in custody at the Fayette County Jail since May on a probation violation.

So everybody else was bad, but he wasn't. His only defense is accusing others. What a miserabel peace of S.
