People do a lot of odd things when they are really drink.

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Never underestimate the poor decision making skills of a drunk young adult. All sorts of bad ideas start with a few drinks and thinking "You know what would be awesome?"

I know I'm shocked my friends and I all made it to 25.

Especially if it was enough to kill him?

Also, I've never worked in a stadium, but I have to wonder how someone from the general public would have access to the garbage chute. That doesn't seem like something security would allow or not notice. In my opinion.

If he was attacked by muggers or security a big guy like Cory would definitely have bruises and lacerations. I would think more so than he would have after falling into a garbage chute. If he just tried leaning on the chute or maybe sitting on it and slid down the chute that makes more sense to me than being mugged or attacked. Especially since apparently nobody saw anything. JMO.

RIP Cory

I completely agree. However, if this extremely dangerous (5-6 stories up!) garbage chute is so easily accessible to the public, then I would have to say the stadium is at least partially at fault here. In my opinion.

Famous last words, Hey ya'll, watch this.

watching wkyc news right now and they say they are searching the dumpsters in progressive field near where he was sitting, and think he may have just climbed in the dumpster himself...

what. why.

Maybe dropped something? Saw something interesting in there? He was drinking, maybe he lost his balance? Seems like that would be a heck of a freak accident though :(

RIP, Cory. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Seems like he was a well loved guy and I hope those positive memories help loved ones heal as they search for closure.

I can't even picture in my mind what a garbage chute at a large venue would look like. I've seen small personal use ones. Are these things floor mounted? Very wide? Have a lock? He was a tall guy, I can't imaging he just took a misstep and slid in to a hole.

Do we know what size dumpster it was? I keep thinking of this type of dumpster would be easy to fall into or be pushed into.

I keep getting this idea that he was possibly vomiting in the dumpster and either fell in or was pushed in by some other drunk people or just a group of jerky guys as a prank type of deal, not intending to kill him, thinking he would come to and crawl out eventually.

Yeah - I have to agree - I can't imagine that a person that size would have enough momentum to make it to the bottom unless it's a really steep and large chute. I am wondering if he passed out under something that was lifted into the dumpster - like boxes or bags. Still ....it would be a stretch to believe he was lifted up without anyone noticing.

I think the friend who joined him for a drink could attest to his condition. His family said he left to get another drink and was expected back to his seat. If he was not hammered at that point - he was either pounding drinks or did something to get to a point where a dumpster looks like a good place to lay down.

I hope an autopsy is done - I think that would shed more light. An altercation also sounds likely as well especially if his cell was taken. Or ....maybe he died of other causes and passed out. If the crowds were crazy, a group of guys could have thought it was funny to put someone they thought was drunk in the dumpster not realizing he was dead. These are the most bizarre theories but just trying to brainstorm ways he would have gotten in that container if he was not placed there by someone. I am sure videos will paint a clearer picture and I do hope they were nearby and working .

Tragic and sad. :( My sincere condolences to this family. I really didn't expect this outcome.

Wait. If he just fell down this garbage chute, how did his phone end up in Tremont the next day? Some one upthread said they heard that on the radio. Is there any more information about his phone being in Tremont?? That sure would make this even stranger.

A cursory search of "fall down trash chute" reveals such deaths are not as uncommon as one might think. However, one wonders whether the trash chute at the stadium would have been off limits to the public? Perhaps Cory felt the urge to vomit, slipped behind an "employees only" door, and leaned into the chute to vomit? Then he lost his balance and fell into the chute. That is a believable circumstance, IMO. Possibly the only one I can come up with. He is simply too large to push or shove into the chute, IMO.

Maybe he dropped the phone and someone picked it up.

I think it's starting to look like a horrible accident. There have been conflicting reports of how intoxicated Cory was, his friends/family that he was with indicate that he wasn't very drunk at all, but bystanders around them say he was visibly quite intoxicated, to the point where his friends were worried he might fall over the railing.

I don't know much about what type of trash chute this was, but I would be very surprised if something like this was just open to access from teh public, especially with a 5 or 6 storey drop! Seems like an accident waiting to happen, especially at a venue frequented by large crowds of drunk people.

So, while at first glance it appears as though it's an accident and nothing more, I'm going to remain on the fence until we hear anything more. I think at this point it could go either way.

Whatever the cause, rest in peace, Cory. My thoughts are with your friends and family during this difficult time. :rose:

The phone honestly doesn't shock me that much, I Help run a three day music festival here and the amount of phones we find is unreal, along with wallets, glasses, strollers, bikes, even a kid or two(eyeroll). We would often take the higher end stuff back to our hotel and eithe attempt to reach contacts r wait to turn it in to a carrier. Or some teen could have found it too. Given that he was seemingly intoxicated, it wouldn't surprise me that he lost his phone at all.

And if he lost his phone, some other drunk kid could have picked it up, meaning to turn it in and forgot OR thought it was his, especially if it was a popular model.

That actually makes a lot of sense. It also explains why he wasn't spotted again that evening by anyone or seen leaving on camera. Poor guy :( I hope whatever happened to him happened quickly.

Such an odd, sad case.

If every inch of Progressive Field was checked, why didn't they find him in the dumpster while it was still on site?
