OH - Dennis Couch for kidnapping, rape of 17yo girl, Anderson Twp, 1992

The girl was 17 years old in 1992 when a man with a gun got into her car. He blindfolded her and drove her somewhere and raped her 4 times before letting her go.
After conviction, during the sentencing the mother of the girl told the judge

"Can you imagine how it feels to be a mother of a rape victim and have to listen to details and know it happened to your own daughter?

"This truly was a mother's biggest nightmare."

But even with the 128 year sentence, Dennis Couch will be eligible for parole in 15 years.

128 years sounds great until one realizes that he may be out in 15 years--to rape and destroy again. Sady, many rapists don't even do 5 years.

OTOH, this guy has already re-offended (1994 and 2002), so it's likely he won't be a choir boy in jail. With any luck, he'll re-offend in prison and his 15 years will multiply. But at least the sentencing judge indicated she'll be around in 15 years to make his release a long shot. One can only hope that the legal and penal systems will make his drop-in-the-bucket sentence last a lifetime.
