Freda Hornberger was last seen on August 21, 1919 after her mother sent her to John Dierks Bakery on Liberty St in Cincinnati. (Freda's home was at 204 East Clifton Ave.) In a book by J.T. Townsend,
Queen City Gothic: Cincinnati's Most Infamous Murder Mysteries, it is stated that 12-year-old friend claimed to have seen Freda at 2:30 P.M. at the corner of Central and Wade. At the time, a man was "urging" Freda to follow him. Other sightings are noted, as well.
