14-year-old Ellie Carder was last seen on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at around 6 p.m. (Troy Police Dept)

Hoping for good news about this young teen.
Glad the Troy LE is involved.
It is a bit cold up there, of course:
Currently, temp is 34F, no precipitation, wind at 8 mph.
Low for tonight is 28F.
Warmer days this coming week.
Hoping she is in a safe, warm place tonight.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Authorities have released an update on the case of a missing Miami County Teen.

The Troy Police Department shared an update earlier today that crews found a backpack said to belong to the missing teenager. The backpack was located in the Great Miami River near State Route 41.

At 9:08 p.m. on Wednesday, Conagra Foods employees told police that they heard a woman yelling outside near the river, McKinney said.

Officers checked the area and did not hear anyone yelling or find anyone at that time.

Ellie Carder, 14, was reported missing Friday by her father. Troy police immediately opened an investigation that determined through witnesses and surveillance video that she was last seen a little after 6 p.m. in the area of East Staunton Road and Michigan Avenue headed toward the river

Police said that volunteer organizations with specialized search and safety equipment were called in Tuesday and will be out Wednesday.
*I so hope she ran away and is safe somewhere. I don’t want to read about another young girl 14 forever…

Troy City School District released this statement today:
We are incredibly concerned about Ellie Carder, a freshman at Troy High School. She is a member of our Trojan family, and we care about the well being of each and every one of our students. We are thinking of her constantly and pray for her safe return to her family and friends. We have school counselors available to speak with our students, should they need to do so

EquuSearch is helping with the search.

Includes video with her grandparents.

As reported during News Center 7 at 6, Carder’s grandparents said this is “completely out of character” for her.

Carder was last seen over a week ago. Each day that has passed without seeing her, the family said they are hurting.

*******
Investigators told News Center 7 they were looking into leads about a possible ex-boyfriend and other people in Dayton and Troy.

Darla (her grandmother) said she had talked to the police about this.

“They’ve never seen her before. So that was a bust. There was a boyfriend, supposedly in Troy, that was negative that come back with nothing,” she said.

The search will continue over the weekend with the help of Equusearch.

Texas Equusearch has now joined the search team, with crews heading out around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The team used drones along the river to search for any clues to Carder’s whereabouts.

“It means a lot for the families to find this missing girl, you know, for the whole community to bring bring her back,” said Danny Siekbert, who works for the Midwest branch of Equusearch. “We’ll be doing at least two miles down, maybe a little further. We’re going to try and focus on the river and the areas around it.”

Over the weekend, Texas Equusearch teams used drones to search the river from the sky. Images from the drones were analyzed, but no new information came about from the search.

Today, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Fire Department assisted in the search, using underwater drones in the river.

The search concluded around 3 p.m. with no new updates. Troy PD confirms they will continue periodic searches throughout the week.

WPAFB has a lot of resources, I was really hoping something would come of the search that day

FEB 17

Wolford started this search with a simple Facebook post, which turned into the missing Ellie Carder webpage and expanded from there.

That's how Andrew Reece found out about the search, bringing his drone along with him. This allowed them to see in complex places like under water.

On Feb. 6, police found her backpack while searching the Great Miami River near E. Main Street, according to a previous News Center 7 report.

Last weekend, more than 50 volunteers searched that area.

Troy police have recently received assistance from Christian Aid Ministries, EquuSearch, and Wright Patterson Fire Services.

At 2:19 p.m., Miami County Communication Center dispatchers received a call regarding a body found in the Great Miami River.

A kayaker told dispatchers they found a body in the river approximately 2 miles downstream from the E. State Route 41 bridge in Troy, McKinney said. :(
