Troy City Schools officials posted Sunday that they will have crisis counselors available at Troy High School and the Upper Valley Career Center on Monday for any students who need help dealing with the news. They thanked the first responders and volunteers who were involved in the search.

“We are incredibly heartbroken to hear this tragic news regarding Ellie Carder, a Troy High School student,” the school district statement said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Ellie, her family, her friends and the entire Troy community. ... Please keep all of our students in your thoughts and prayers.”
*idk what happened with this young girl. I wish this thread would have turned out differently. We are losing so many children lately. It’s defeating. I’m afraid to search for the missing young anymore. This one hurts. :(

No signs of physical trauma initially doesnt mean much, right? It still could be foul play, especially since the neighbors heard yelling?

Was hoping for a different and better ending. This is so sad.
WHIO Radio reports autopsy results may take as long as 8 weeks.

Especially in the smaller more rural parts of Ohio. I know it’s a problem everywhere, but in Ohio it’s pretty bad. I was born and raised in the state, as well as my entire family. A few years back my nieces lost 6 (or 7?) classmates within a few months to self unaliving. The town I’m from has also experienced multiple episodes of students giving in to their demons. One incident was within the last few months. Granted, this is just my anecdotal opinion and experience from growing up/living in small town Ohio. I haven’t lived there for almost a decade now, so I could be way off. But somehow I doubt it.

I also wish I knew what could be done to help. It’s a start that mental health is finally starting to be talked about and not seen as such a taboo subject.

Whether this is what happened, or it was something more nefarious, I hope she rests in peace and her family and friends can find the smallest morsel of comfort now that she is “home”. And if there does happen to be more to her story, may justice be swift and strong.
