OH - Emily Noble, 52, Westerville, 24 May 2020 *husband not guilty*

Well, addressing my fellow viewers watching the trial (me, myself and I), it appears that at this point in time he's going to walk. The prosecution has nothing. Mind you, I think he is guilty, but the jury won't find him guilty. (IMO)
You, yourself and me..I'm just now catching up on today. Unfortunately, I was just thinking the same thing. I think outside of the expert's report indicating the cause of death was a homicide and MM being caught in multiple lies, there is just nothing there. I hope I'm wrong, his frequent smirks are nauseating.

So his ex-stepson killed someone or? If I’m way off, I apologize. I am just trying to make sure I understand.

You are correct. The state made a huge deal about him looking up 2 different murder trials. Turns out one is a famous case and the other was his stepson.

Interesting! Thank you for the explanation. I missed yesterday's testimony.

The name "Pederson" is tattooed on MM's right wrist. Saw that in court today. There was probably more to the name, but that was not visible. Also, I believe that he had a similar tattoo on his left wrist. I caught a glimpse, but not enough to make it out.
you get a gold star - I couldn't figure out what that tattoo said

If your google history can be held against you, I'm going AWAY if I was ever arrested for murder. I look up cases ALL THE TIME.

The YouTube algorithm put this trial on my home page. I'm not familiar with it. I did back and read a few pages of the first thread, and watched a few hours of the trial. I wonder if those who are more familiar with the case can help me out. In the trial, at least twice, I think once to the neighbor and once on a facebook post, MM uses the phrase "Emily has gone missing." It struck me as an odd phrase.

If I woke up and couldn't find my husband I wouldn't say he's gone missing, I'd say have you seen him, did he call you, or when is the last time you saw him? Was this early on, like the first day? Maybe it wouldn't be so odd if a couple of days had gone by and he couldn't locate her.

I haven't watched any testimony today (and to be honest I'm not sure how I got drawn into this one).....I watched the police interview of MM and was certain he was guilty. BUT.......now I'm on the fence. So far (and I know it's early) I think the Crown's case has been weak. We have MM not being clear about his sleep/phone use during about 12 hours. The phone activity seems to show he was awake longer than he remembered. He didn't give the police his phone when he got the ransom messages (but it was his only phone and the flyers had that number on it). What else?

LE clearly think he staged this as a suicide. Can someone shine some light on what I'm not seeing

edit: you don't call it the Crown....the State?

Yes, in the US the prosecutor is called the State.

Your post reminded me of a video I saw of MM from the responding officer's body cam. There was a sound and MM ignored it. The office asks what that sound was, and he responds, oh that was my phone. If your loved one was missing wouldn't you leap to your phone if it went off?

Finishing up yesterdays testimony...I asked my techie husband about the USB cord. That little cylinder towards the end of the cord that the investigator testified was caught on the branch and was the part essentially holding the cord on the tree is ironically sometimes referred to as a 'choke.' It is a semi-hollow piece of plastic. He was surprised it held the weight of a person without breaking. I was personally surprised the cord was not tied to the tree. I thought they should have emphasized that more. I hope they do with future witnesses.

Hello all! this guys smug drives me nuts!!! i hope he's found guilty! Also super suspicious about his son's death, i bet he killed him too!

I love how the jury is able to ask questions after every witness.

Do you remember when this was? The officer's radio beeping every few seconds was driving me nuts and I obviously missed this

I couldn't quite see (or follow the explanation) of how the cord was "tied" and attached to the branch. He had to cut it three times to get it off. I can't quite picture this. I'm assuming the knot was out of the cord bc of the material? But if her weight was hanging on it for an extended period of time wouldn't it "cement" the knot in? (I'm thinking of an iphone charger.....I can see how a knot would easily release right away, but after time and pressure I think it would stay?) Anyone have a picture of this knot?

They just showed the cord, it was only cut in one place. He testified it was only wrapped around the tree branch...no knot to secure to branch. The knot was halfway down and the bottom part was around her neck. I will see if I can get a screenshot from youtube.

It's a really thick USB, it was doubled and she only weighed 95 pounds. The defense did emphasize it and he state didn'tt emphasize it because it hurts their case.

Law & Crime - Mattheau Moore Trial Day 4 (Screenshots from this video)
I actually didn't notice it in the photo, if you look at the first photo, the very bottom right above the red status bar, the plastic part is catching on a loop of the cord. I thought they were saying it was caught on the tree. They is even more pressure on the plastic part.
The second photo is where he is holding both pieces of the cord.
The third photo is the branch the cord went over.

The officer definitely said he cut it in 3 places.

Thanks - I wish there was a photo of the whole "hanging apparatus".....I don't see the point of the knot.

So the USB cord was long and doubled over - Was it anchored anywhere? As far as I can tell it wasn't tied to the branch, so where did the force come from? Was her neck in the "loop" that would be made from doubling up the cord or was a "noose" made? I don't know why I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around this

Google "incomplete hanging" there's lots of articles about it. It's how Robin Williams did it.
