Yikes. People aren’t ready until they are READY. People won’t get clean until they are done and want to get better. Interventions and guilt tripping addicts in to sobriety doesn’t work. You just make them feel worse about themselves and they tend to go on benders. Not sure there is really anything you can do except tell them you love them and will help them whenever they are ready for recovery. I hope he realizes that he’s loved and people care.

I didn't see where it said he was seeking treatment for addiction. Link?

Treatment for what? It doesn't say. Is it for mental illness, drugs, etc.

It could be cancer treatment or any of hundreds of treatments available at hospitals.

Maybe I'm wrong. Mental illness could definitely be the issue here. My comments still stand if it turns out to be drug related. If it is mental illness then I'm surprised that it was just the mother taking him. He sounds dangerous.

No drug or alcohol arrests in his county (I did not search out of county) but there was a recent "capias order" (basically, a warrant for failure to appear, pay a fine or follow court orders.) Original charges were for domestic violence and menacing, bond was %10,000. Perhaps the court-ordered some sort of treatment, but that would just be my guess. In my opinion, if his family put up that bond amount they were determined to get him the care required. Hamilton County Clerk of Courts

His poor mom. Helping an adult child who has problems can be a challenge.
