A day after announcing that a 911 caller had claimed responsibility for a string of highway shootings, investigators said Saturday that a second man has stepped forward and threatened to attack police officers.

this scares me sooo bad. I'm angry because this was not in the news when it began happening and I drove on both of those routes numerous times this summer and the early fall, going home to visit my family. I had my 6 year old son with me. I'm angered because I wasn't aware of this and drove right into the middle of it. I just thank God he didn't chose those days to kill.
I need to make a trip home and am trying to find an alternative route because I'm afraid to drive thru there. Hope they catch him soon.

My heart goes out to the Columbus (and surrounding area) residents and visitors who have driven along I-270!

I have been an Ohio resident all my life. I am originally from Cleveland, went to college at Miami University (Ohio), and then worked in Cincinnati. (We only moved to the Carolina area a year ago.)

I can't imagine what you are going through, having to fear a shooter as you innocently drive your car. Please stay safe. I hope they catch this psycho very soon!

Thank you for providing links and news stories for the rest of us.

There are two big questions I'm wondering about with this and I would love to hear what others think:

1) Is he trying to kill people (and is just not a very good shot) or was the death an accident (seems surprising he would keep doing it if that was true)

2) Does he want to get caught? The recent actions seem to be so bold that it seems like he is wanting to be caught.

Maybe he never meant to kill anyone and the guilt has been building up so now he is getting reckless - subconsciously wanting to get caught?? I don't know - no answer seems to make that much sense.

Hey all, I'm an Ohioan too... I live in Cleveland right off of I-71 actually. I hope everyone down south living in the areas this guy is using for hunting grounds stays out of his path. Its realy scary to think you can't even get in your car and drive to work without fear of being shot at while riding in your vehicle!

I have several friends who live on campus at OSU, and I havn't gone to visit any of them this year because I don't want to go anywhere near that. I am not too familiar with that area so I don't want to take shortcuts to get down there. I drive a big red Chevy Blazer, and I'm scared I would be a good target.

I hope they catch this maniac soon... everyone is in danger traveling that road... the police don't want to panick people but they need to do something here! When godforbid some poor baby, toddler, or child is struck by a bullet, its going to get a lot more serious, and thats total BS. This reminds me of the DC Sniper shootings. People were scared, I mean people were being shot at pumping gas!! But when they shot that por kid at school, it became a whole new ballgame. I just hope they can catch the sick ba$tard before it comes to that. :(

Hi Babylove (neighbor) :) I live in Columbus and it is scary! My husband has to travel that way for buisness every once and a while and it scares the daylights out of me! He had to go to Cincy last week..he called me to tell me he was on his way home..I asked him where he was and he said on 71S! I begged him to find a different route..and he did. I am not sure if the shooter is trying to kill people or just hit their vehical..either way, he is a very sick individual. One elderly lady HAS already been killed..and other's could follow. There have been some witnesses that have actually seen the guy. He seems to be getting a little bolder (almost like he wants to be caught)...Hopefully they will catch him soon.

I am from Cleveland too. So hello there neighbors. I live right off of 90.
I'm paranoid about Columbus, I have driven thru there sooo many times before this shooter was in the news or as popular. They said the shootings started in May, I was so upset because I had been thru there on 71, 270 and 70 many many times with my 6 year old. Since they've let it out in the news, I've stayed away. I hope they catch him soon before another person is injured or killed.

Hi Alpahree (neighbor2) :) I was shocked too, that they said he started shooting back in May of last year! That's scary. I mean, I can understand them not wanting to induce panic, but it does make you wonder what else is going on that we, the public, know nothing about? I too, hope they catch this nut soon!

HI all! We drove thru Columbus this weekend on I-71 while on our way to Cleveland for a visit with some friends. We saw tons of police on the roads. I was busy scoping out each overpass also. We didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Glad that we made it home safe!
