It was eight years ago today that Gina DeJesus was last seen walking home from Wilbur Wright Middle School on April 2, 2004.
There will be a vigil today to mark the eighth anniversary of the disappearance of Georgina DeJesus, who was 14 when she vanished from the West Side.
Family, friends and community activists will gather at 6:30 p.m. at West 105th Street and Lorain Avenue, where she was last seen about 2:45 p.m. when she was walking home from school.

Its been very hard on me, said Ginas mother, Nancy Ruiz. Im asking from my heart and Im begging, and I know Gina is out there, and Gina, if you can see this, honey, know and trust that I love you. We will never give up this fight. We will fight until the end to bring you home, and know that we love you.
