Competency still a question for mother charged with murder

Andrea Bradley was in court before Judge Robert Ruehlman Wednesday with the most pressing question about her legal situation still unanswered. The most recent psychiatrist to examine her cannot determine if she is mentally competent enough to stand trial.

Judge Ruehlman ordered she be examined at Summit Behavioral Health, with a report on her mental state due in August.

Mother charged with murder of 2-year-old daughter pleads no contest

https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2018/01/03/mother-charged-murder-2-year-old-daughter-pleads-no-contest/996991001/

The plea deal comes after Bradley turned down an initial deal in 2016. In May 2016, Bradley denied a plea deal that would have allowed her to spend life in prison, as opposed to the death penalty. But in November 2017, the death penalty was taken off the table.

A no contest plea is treated a guilty plea for sentencing purposes and Bradley pleaded no contest on both counts. She will be sentenced Jan. 24. The maximum sentence is 23 to life, Ruehlman said.

Dear God. I'm honestly not sure what to say as to be honest my response to reading this is more physical than about words.

The sentence imposed by Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Robert Ruehlman – 15 years to life in prison – effectively ended a case that began nearly three years ago when Bradley carried her daughter’s cold, limp and emaciated body into Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Cincinnati police Detective Bill Hilbert told Ruehlman it was the worst child abuse case he’s investigated in his 17 years. Hilbert said when he first saw Glenara’s body at the hospital, he thought she was six months old.

Ruehlman said the last months of Glenara's life were "a living hell.”

“And you were there. You knew,” he told Bradley.

How in the WORLD were social workers in the home on a weekly basis, AND there the same week that the child died, and failed to notice that A) the 3 year old was the size of an infant, and B) that the child had a large gash on the forehead that had been sewn together with REGULAR THREAD???? WTH??? As a social worker, I am appalled. Gives me chills and reminds me of poor Semaj, and how she was failed by CD as well smh.

I will never forget your sweet little baby face, beautiful Glenara. Heaven's child. I would have loved you as a daughter.
