Interesting comment from his mother on Harley's facebook page....I was a bit stunned when I read it. MOO

The one from 2014? Or was it a newer one that was deleted?

Oh okay that one.
Well it looks like Harley did have some health issues.
Also behavioral issues.
Possibly going to therapy.
So yes, lots going on here. I hope he is okay.

To give some context on this area Port Clinton currently has a lot of vacant homes/cottages/trailers. A small town of 6,000 people. It butts up to Lake Erie and the Portage River. There is a LOT of water in this area and many of the homes are recreational / vacation homes / rentals for people who live year round elsewhere. It's about 20 minutes to Cedar Point so in the summer there is an influx of transient visitors and boaters / fisherman. In the winter, rents can be found very cheap.

Port Clinton has a crime rate that is higher than 89% of the state's cities and towns of all sizes and the area struggles heavily with drug problems.
It is also close to ferries that would go to put in bay and Kelley's island
.
Are the ferries still running?

Port Clinton Police Department

*** REWARD UPDATE, Saturday, December 28th, 2019 ***

$7000.00 for information leading to the safe return of HARLEY DILLY

We have received checks for $1,000.00 from an Anonymous donor and another $2,000.00 from the owners and employees of Fisherman’s Wharf and BeYoutiful Hair/Nail Salon.

We have just been contacted by the Sandusky Co-Founder of Bikers Against Abused And Neglected Children (B.A.A.N.C.), who have graciously committed an additional $2,000.00 to the REWARD regarding information leading to the safe return of HARLEY DILLY...

The Port Clinton Police Department along with Ottawa County Prosecutor, James VanEerten is offering a $2,000.00 REWARD for information leading to the safe return of HARLEY DILLY…

HARLEY was last seen on December 20th, 2019 in Port Clinton, Ohio, as Harley was leaving for school between the hours of 6:00am and 7:00am but never arrived. He was last seen wearing glasses, grey sweatpants, a maroon “puffy” jacket, and black tennis shoes. Law enforcement is concerned for his safety.

BBM This is an interesting angle.

Are the ferries still running?

According to their websites the ferries are no longer running daily. There may be occasional scheduled trips for those that live on the islands via one of the regular ferry companies.

Those islands are near ghost towns this time of year. There are very few people that *live* in put in bay. There are only 70 households in the entirety of Put In Bay and Southbass Island and around 100 year round residents.

I grew up spending my spring/summers/fall in and out of those islands and the mainland (family of boaters). Once the boating season ends it's eerie how deserted it is.

The search for Harley Dilly ramps up, one week after his disappearance

...

In a video that was shared to NBC 24 from Harley's YouTube page, coming from last year, Harley expressed his frustrations at home.

"He told me that my mom never called the police. So she lied to me to get me scared, and she locked me out of the house. So right now, I'm outside."

On Friday, dozens of volunteers lined up to dedicate their days to helping find Harley.

That included Lorie Anderson.

"I started on Maple Street, worked my way down to Elm Street, until they tell me I can't hand them out anymore."

Lorie teamed up with another Laurie.

Laurie Basden drove all the way from Toledo. She says she knows Harley's mom, and just wants to do her part to help out.

"I've known her and the family for about eight years. She's helped me through some trying times. She opened the door to a complete stranger over eight years ago. I'm very passionate about this. There's nothing worse than having a child missing."

This Sunday at 5 p.m., the community will be hosting a candlelight vigil for Harley. That will take place at Lakeview Park.

I'm impressed by how well spoken Harley was, even as early as 12 years old. He seems quite smart. Of course we are only seeing a certain portion of his life that he shows on social media. If he didn't have his phone on that Friday, I imagine he felt disconnected from his normal life.

Port Clinton consumed by missing 14-year-old boy, now gone for 9th day

SABBM:
Posters of the missing teen -- 4'9", 100 pounds, green eyes, brown hair, and glasses -- hang in nearly every storefront window in downtown Port Clinton, where's the streets are relatively empty during the off-season but people are filled with worry.

“Everyone’s talking about it, everywhere you go,” said resident Lisa Kuzma. “It’s really upsetting for the community.”

It is a big subject matter throughout the community.

“Everywhere you go, you see flyers posted on every corner every street post,” said Joe Kuzma. “It’s a big topic. Nobody knows what’s going on with the kid.”

The kid, Harley Dilly, last seen on surveillance video near the high school on the day of his disappearance nine days ago.

So, it sounds like the level of community awareness is quite high, which is good.

If he's still in the area hiding out somewhere, hopefully he'll be spotted.

The fact that there have been no reported sightings of him since the day he disappeared isn't a good sign, though.

JMO.

Yes, Harley seems very intelligent. He also seems desperate for love and attention, and he is adorable and looks about 4 years younger than he actually is. That could be a perfect storm, I'm afraid.

I wonder if Harley's mom works or usually leaves the house for some time in the morning.

If she works or routinely leaves the home, my thought is Harley was "not feeling well" and waiting/wanting to pack up more once his mom left to "runaway". I put runaway in quotes because I strongly fear he is in the company of someone who he trusted but should not have. Left willingly then things turned to where he can't leave now for whatever reason.

Another thought: perhaps someone told Harley that he/she would pick him up sometime during the school day and Harley had a change of mind and didn't want to go? Perhaps telling his mom he wasn't feeling well to get out of going?

Best case scenario is that he is snacking on chips and cookies in a friends' home that is on holiday vacation. Hopefully Harley will go back home right before the school break ends and all is well.

However you cut it, precious time was lost during 40 or so hours that passed from his last sighting to the report of his disappearance to police.

Do people still think they have to wait 24 or 48 hours to report someone missing? If so, I can accept that better than deliberately waiting so many hours for no reason.

There is water to the north, water to the south and peninsula and more water to the east. He could walk out his door and be at the edge of the town in less than an hour on foot going east or west.

I struggle with the fact there is no other video footage that could be obtained. This is a small, seasonal area but technology is not lost on this town. At 6-7 am other kids are walking to school, being driven to school, on a bus and NO one saw him? Not even picked up on any other video? There's businesses in this town, schools, churches, banks etc. To get out of this town, you have to pass something with a camera. If he ran away with no help, he'd have to be on foot. There has to be something else he passed to give a better timeline. Otherwise, he was picked up IMO.

I was thinking the same thing.

Are we sure the still CCTV is Harley? (I couldn’t find it - does someone have the link?)

If not, are we sure he actually left his residence? (Not insinuating anything here, just want to check).
