If he was heading SE of his house, that’s a vast amount of nothing. He wouldn’t be seen on camera because there likely isn’t any. If he was meeting with someone on rt 53 they could take him to Fremont. Does he have friends in Fremont? They need to check all those fields back there too. That’s someone on a mission leaving opposite the direction you were supposed to go. So he wasn’t headed to school. That’s very misleading when they say he vanished on his way to school.

BBM:

It is misleading, and that's why I wish we could change our Thread Title here.

It's pretty apparent that HD wasn't headed to PCHS that morning.

Speaking of tracks in the snow....

when Harley left, there was snow on the ground. Shortly after, the next day, it started warming up. We headed into a two week long warm spell. Any tracks in the snow were likely lost during that 41 hr non-reporting period. That sucks.

Dear @Sonic7273,

Thank you for this information as I had no idea of the snow situation and the temperature.

That's so awful - footprints in the snow - melted. Such a lost opportunity. This is very sad.

I've actually wondered if the whole bathing several times a day thing wasn't actually more about HD wanting a clandestine spot to record his YT videos and/or to engage in other online activities that he may have been put on restriction from at home.

As we've seen, HD did appear to record a number of his YT videos in the bathtub.

That may have been b/c he wanted to hide the fact that he was filming from his parents and/or to prevent them from being able to monitor his online activity.

JMO.
That is a very interesting thought.

I'm generally pro-LE.
But their FB post shared above lacks professionalism.

For one thing, it's not LE's job to mount a staunch defense of HD's parents.
The parents can defend their own actions and inactions.
They're adults.

LE's job is to locate HD.
He's a child, out who-knows-where and possibly at the mercy of who-knows-what or who-knows-whom.

Focusing on SM scrutiny of HD's parents is a total distraction from that.
LE shouldn't be addressing it on their FB page.
Public perception of the parents falls outside the scope of their job descriptions.

And another thing: That post has too! many! exclamation! points!!!!

Unprofessional.

JMO.
agreed. and the issue of having a live FB page might need to be reconsidered. however they have had people slamming the parents on a FB page which is live on the Police Depts web. so in a way the police dept is hosting the bar-b-que , so to speak. they might need to shut that down to the public comments and just do private messages for the tips if they still think FB is a good tip line. MOO.

I posted a source for this, straight from HD's mouth. I posted the video from his Youtube where he talks about his Mom having a Heart attack and Stroke, he had to go stay at his aunt and uncles for 2 months it wasn't looking good for his Mom etc.

Oh, thank you for directing me to that! Totally slipped my mind he said those things!

I guess I’m in the minority here, but I think the Port Clinton PD are doing a terrific job under these stressful circumstances. They don’t have professional or big city Communications Officers, and they are doing their best to keep the Citizenry calm and focused.

As far as donuts, they deserve all the donuts they want. I love these men and women in blue; such an incredibly difficult job. They have my respect.

amateur opinion and speculation

If it makes you feel any better, you're not alone.

It's. Not. You.

It's. The. Site.

It's really weird. I'm new and just learned it. You click "quote" and "reply" to the righthand side. Then it will work properly.

I was just reading a news article on the sober living house right next door to Harley's home. It houses 15 men, and the profile I read was of a resident who had "an extensive criminal record".

I would certainly hope that no one with offenses against children would be in that home right next to Harley?

I really hope that this residential group home has been looked at with a microscope. I am NOT accusing the home or anyone living there of wrong doing, I'm just saying I'd like to see LE rule that out.

Amateur opinion and speculation

LightHouse Sober living site specifically states no violent or sexual convictions. It's also up to 15 residents maximum. I'm not sure if I can say things that were said at the candle light vigil or not (is that rumor?)

.....sooo I'll just say ... It's my opinion that LE probably checked into this and cleared the few men that were living there.

Maybe the Chief is on an extended doughnut break and wants to become a PR person as well. (sorry, sarcasm is my 2nd language)

Has anyone else noticed that Harley's case has been ran more like PR though?? "Don't talk about rumors" "Don't do anything UNLESS we say you can" "Don't take anyone's word for anything unless we say it's true" I'm sorry but is he the Chief of police or our Parent? I get not talking abt rumors and not taking what someone said at face value, BUT IMO I feel the Chief has hindered their investigation by holding off the public getting involved in searches.

All the Chief had to say was "While out searching, WEAR GLOVES so NOT to contaminate any possible evidence, and CALL US IF/WHEN you come across something you believe could be substantial to this case and locating Harley" BUT, instead they waited ALL this time, so any POSSIBLE evidence that could have been found MAY have been removed by whatever reason. Animals, weather, just nature in general. IF there were tracks in the snow that day, they would have been lost by others going to school and through that area I understand that, but, WHY hold off letting the public assist this family and LE in the search for this CHILD??

To my knowledge, family members have not lawyered up and they have, according to the Chief's daily posts, been fully cooperating. That is a good thing for an active investigation and it is the approach that most professional investigators and prosecutors likely believe will ultimately bring Harley home.

Thank you for posting this. I agree.

Officers and investigators from this department sacrificed their own holidays upon learning Harley was missing. This is their vocation, but it is still also their sacrifice and they deserve gratitude for understanding and honoring necessary priorities in those circumstances.

The Chief posted a wonderful story on the Port Clinton Police Department Facebook page on either Christmas Eve or Christmas. It was about a particular officer experiencing both the cost and the honor associated with those sacrifices. I recommend reading it. It left me with tears all over my keyboard.

These professionals deserve more respect and granting of the benefit of doubt. They don't owe us all a view into the reasons for all the choices they are making while in the middle of an active investigation into the disappearance of a child.

Here’s a few screenshots from Google Earth that are Southeast of Harley’s home.

The red pin in the first photo is E. 5th Street, the block where Harley lives.

Huh.

Lots of wooded areas.

A highway.

Interesting.

Interesting, and worrisome.

Does seem like a hard place to go missing on accident.

Thank you @KCmetwo for posting the video of Harley .

In the video, Harley says that he will post videos on XBox and also invites others to join him on XBox (he gives his on-screen name for it) and to message him on that platform.

Are these messages on XBox saved somewhere on the computer hard drive? Is there an electronic history of the messages that police can access?

Thank you in advance.

Good to see you again, ZenCompass! I believe such data would be stored on the hard drive of the xBox, and the reason I believe this is because in the faked suicide/actual murder of child siblings Brinley and Conner Snyder, the police visited the home and promptly confiscated the family’s xBox, which the other members of the family claimed was primarily used by Conner to play games and chat with “friends.” The authorities must’ve had some confidence in their ability to retrieve meaningful and substantive data from that device since it was confiscated along with the family’s laptops, tablets, and cell phones, almost immediately after the children were rushed off to the ICU.
In some respects, the Snyder case reminds me A LOT of this one, and it’s not just because they both involve an xBox...

Wonderful to see you again @realanastasia !

Thank you so much for this information about retrieval of data from the xBox hard drive.

The murders of Conner and Brinley Snyder were horrid and unfathomable. The police worked tirelessly on that case and they stated that they were all deeply affected by it.

I have great empathy for police and emergency workers who are involved in these cases. I am so glad that they have counselling available for them, especially during those grim cases.

I had been wondering if the xBox data can be accessed by L.E. Now, thanks to you - I know it's possible. Every single tool available to L.E. can lead to valuable information.

I am so hopeful that something will turn up very soon to lead them to find Harley and that he's safe. There is always hope.
