Yes, there is a chance that it doesn't even belong to him and it is someone trying to get attention. I was just wondering if anyone had looked into his snapchat account when he first went missing and if it was, in fact, his account handle. Everyone here seemed pretty quick to get account names for YT, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.

Did anyone watch his last videos before they got taken down? From watching his last madden play video currently on his channel (published dec 10th), there is absolutely nothing there that is giving me an inkling that he is thinking of running away. This is a kid that didn’t keep his cards close to his vest or would at least mention that he had cards close to his vest. He is talking about the future and his future uploads etc. I wonder if the content of the videos had changed growing closer to the 20th. I remember someone saying that there were more videos that got taken down, which makes me wonder why. Was there something there that LE didn’t want the public dissecting vs the 12/10 video is pretty innocuous.

I am shocked multiple people are saying they've heard of parents locking their teenagers out. How common is this?

My son who is now 41 had a friend whose parents did this, back in middle school. As I recall, it would happen if he missed curfew. So, late at night.

This child deserves better treatment than this. Why wasn’t he living at his grandfathers? Surely it was evident to any reasonable adult that his current living arrangement wasn’t in anyone’s best interest?!?

I obviously don't know Harley, but I'm fairly certain this is a joke lol. Lots of kids make jokes like that, and if he was 'secretly' a stoner, he probably wouldn't be hinting about it in his Snapchat username.

Yea it’s the expression the bitmoji is making. I don’t pay attention as to wether they change on their own or not.

Also, I agree lots of kids use 420 or 69 its a showing off type thing.

When it happened to me in high school, my friends were absolutely horrified. I remember calling my friend bawling my eyes out and she drove 20 miles to come and get me and let me spend the night at her house. For which there were consequences with my mom and stepdad. Which is also what Harley was discussing in his video, he wanted to leave but he was scared so he stayed and endured. I couldn't handle being outside in the cold for 4 hours and had a bad day at school on top of it as well as a chronic illness flare up (I was locked out multiple times but this is referring to the time I called my friend). My close group of friends (about 7 people) said their parents had never done that to them, and they all told their parents who were absolutely upset about it.

So... it isn't a "normal" thing to do. Definitely.

Fourteen years old is way too young to be put out of the home, locked out and I consider it child abuse and totally unacceptable. IMO.

It must be VERY common because I’ve had more than my share of kids show up & sleep on my sofa.
When I was a teenager it was a thing too. The apartments near my house are buildings that house 6 separate units with a large laundry room attached outside to each one. Large Storage lockers with gates were also in there for items like Christmas Trees, camping gear etc. runaways would often sleep in an empty one of those, wedge the doors open to the dryers and run those for heat. You could lock the door from the inside. Us kids all would kick in the quarters as parents were not willing to take in stray kids. Mine would feed em, just not house em.

I wonder if Harley went home at all Thursday night when his friends father asked him to go home, after leaving did he go to another friends house or double back to the friends house and sneak in? Perhaps he found a empty house or car to hide in to keep from going home. Are there any laundry mats or stores that are open 24/7 near there? Mom said she talked to him Friday morning and told him to go to school..But have i missed the information about Thursday night? Meaning wouldn't the last time she actually seen him be Thursday when he returned from the friends, did he eat dinner? take a shower? did she tell him goodnight? Just questions no one is blaming mom..moo

I've also wondered if there is a 24 hour Walmart near his home.

I never took EVERYTHING away from my kid as punishment. I always gave him the option of earning stuff back too.
