April 15, 2025- unidentified remains found

<<“Items of interest that will be tested for human remains and one bullet’ have been found by detectives who are combining through a property in Scioto County in connection to several missing persons cases, Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman confirmed on Tuesday.>>

<<According to Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman, agencies are searching for remains potentially connected to more than one missing persons case dating back more than 40 years.

Sheriff Thoroughman says the tip that led them to this location relates to cases in several counties.>>

<<Investigators in Scioto County said they did not uncover any additional evidence or human remains at a second excavation site along Pine Creek Road. The investigation relates to three missing persons cases that are several decades old.

In early April, Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said detectives were tipped off to two locations in rural Scioto County. At the first excavation site, a few items of interest were collected including a bullet. Additional items were tested for human remains, but the results were negative.>>

<< Sheriff Thoroughman still believes the information that led investigators to those two locations is credible, but the passage of time and growth of the foliage has made it difficult to pinpoint exact locations.

That location has a number of wells throughout that area and with the passage of time and not being able to locate any records, it’s difficult to find the exact location," Thoroughman said.

The next step for investigators is to follow up on new leads that the sheriff hopes will point them to a more accurate location where evidence could be found.>>
