Emotional but firm in their faith. Loved ones of Imperial Stewart gathered in Nelson Park on the east side Tuesday. The family sent time searching for Stewart and passing out flyers, trying to solve a painful mystery.

"He's just an awesome kid. I'm just lucky to have him, and I want him back. I want my son. I need him," said Stewart's mother CS.

"Because the information that has been circulated and was presented, it indicated that there may be some foul play — and let me emphasize that there may be some foul play," Denner said. "I wanted to dedicate [Homicide] Team 5 to this."

Early in the investigation, police released information on a vehicle, a black Chrysler, that may be connected. Denner said Thursday that officers recovered the vehicle, but he declined to say where.

Investigators are awaiting forensic results from the car.

Detectives have identified two persons of interest they are looking to speak with about Stewart's disappearance. Michael Tymeale Bowles, 20, and Mi’Quel Bowles, 18, were last seen with Stewart the night he disappeared, police said.

Zebib said the Bowles, who are believed to be brothers, were "acquaintances, not friends" of her son, but that they were people he trusted.

CS, Stewart’s mother, said during Thursday’s conference that Stewart is loyal, cares for his siblings and is loved by his school and the city. CS said Stewart’s family will “keep on going until we find my son, my baby, my prince.”

“He doesn’t deserve this, we just want him to come home,” said CS during the conference. “Micheal, Mi’Quel, please do the right thing. I just wanna know where my baby is, it’s not right.”

“He is well loved, he is a beautiful child,” said RR, Stewart’s aunt. “He’s supposed to graduate this year, he missed homecoming, we were all ready for all that, and he was taken away from us.”

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Stewart’s disappearance to call 614-774-7825. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers by calling 614-461-8477.

On Friday, that’s where his aunt RR, along with members of Mothers of Murdered Columbus Children, continued their search for him.

“We know that he was here, and we know that he was at the gas station,” said RR.
They handed out flyers with Imperial’s picture on them while they searched different yards.

So much credit to his family here for sparking this search and helping to keep the story front and center in the press. I like the police chief’s response, too - very resource-intensive and focused on finding a disappeared 17yo minority male, when that hasn’t always been so in past similar cases in America. I pray for a good outcome.

Interesting development of some involved person

Case is not officially named homocide, but it does not look good and is investigated.

Around 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 20, the day Stewart disappeared, Stewart's mother saw him leave their home on Ivyhurst Drive on the city's Northeast Side and get into a black Chrysler 300 with someone she knew as "Kel." Police later identified "Kel" as Mi'Quel Bowles.

Stewart's mother, Cierra Zebib, told detectives she thought at least one other male was in the car, and she believed they were going to a store called Limbo Laces, located at 1843 Huy Road, to sell shoes.

Less than two hours later, around 7:30 p.m. that night, Columbus police got a call about a shooting on the 600 block of North Dawson Avenue on the city's East Side. Mi'Quel Bowles was found with a gunshot wound and taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center for treatment. Detectives took his phone as evidence, according to the sworn statement.

The court records say Mi'Quel Bowles was uncooperative with detectives and refused to provide information, however, his uncle did give some details to investigators. According uncle, Mi'Quel was dropped off in a black Chrysler 300 driven by his older brother, Michael Bowles. Another person, "J," was also in the car, according to the uncle.

On Sept. 23, documents say a 16-year-old friend of Mi'Quel and Michael posted on social media saying "Rest In Peace" in reference to Stewart. The teen reportedly called Stewart's mother's other son, saying Stewart was dead and his body was in the woods.

On Sept. 25, detectives were told the Chrysler 300 was found in Fairfield County and that it had been set on fire. Police later learned the vehicle was purchased by Mi'Quel on Sept. 11.

Court documents say detectives interviewed three of Mi'Quel's family members. The family members said that Michael called for help with the Chrysler on Sept. 20 after Mi'Quel was dropped off at the house on Dawson Avenue and police had left.

Michael and one of the family members retrieved the car and took it back to Dawson Avenue, according to court documents. The family member reported seeing that the backseat was covered in blood.

Documents say Michael later admitted to the family members that he shot and killed someone and that one of the bullets went through Stewart and hit Mi'Quel. Michael reportedly told the family he got rid of the body, but did not tell them where.

Genee Dumas, 39, posted bond in the amount of $20,000 after entering her plea. She has been charged with tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest as one of seven suspects in the case.

Body camera video obtained by NBC4 sheds light on where the charges stem from in connection with Stewart’s death. It showed police going to the school of Dumas’ daughter in Groveport to arrest her, since she was dating murder suspect Michael Bowles. Officers also called Dumas to the school, because her daughter is a minor.

The spark of the tampering with evidence charge comes from what Dumas’ daughter told her mother to do with her cell phone while officers arrested her. Police were heard ordering Dumas to take the device out of her pocket.

“Mom, keep breaking it! Keep breaking it,” Dumas’ daughter was heard saying in the video.

An officer’s bodycam then turned to give a view of Dumas, who is seen smashing her daughter’s phone against a desk. An officer moved quickly to stop her, grabbing Dumas by the arms.

“She’s got to stop doing that, it is evidence in a homicide,” an officer was heard saying.

What a stupid woman (and daughter)—they probably believed that destroying the physical phone would make it impossible to retrieve any of its data. Hope the court throws the book at them both.

Next court date is 12/18/2023, per Franklin County Sheriff’s inmate info. Maybe this means the court rescheduled the 11/14 court date?
