OH - Jackson Twp Schools on lockdown; student shoots himself in bathroom

A lot of .22 rifles are fairly compact. My daughter’s little single shot .22 rifle that I bought for her when she was 8 years old, is only 2 1/2 feet long and weighs less than 3 pounds.

People are asking how kids get guns. I'm quoting Bobcat because it was an admitted statement that they bought it for an 8 year old. So how many other parents will stand up and admit they have bought either rifles (for hunting, i'm assuming) or pellet guns or any other types of guns for Under 18 year olds? Not saying its right or wrong, i knew TONS of kids who went hunting in HS and younger. In fact most of these kids probably have more training than many adults.... HOWEVER,,,,, it just shows how easy it is to get a weapon of some type.

I would bet 90% of kids out there know a friend that has, or has access, to a gun. Its not a gun problem, its a WHY ARE OUR KIDS DOING THIS problem.

Why is this not on the news too? Everyone should know about how easy it is for some kids to have access to guns...

Police: Ohio teen who killed himself had planned a school shooting

Jackson Twp. Police Chief Mark Brink said the student did not use social media often, but they found notes on his phone that showed his “intentions to harm others” through detailed plans in the memo section of his phone.

Authorities said the student had 80 rounds of ammunition on him but do not know why he changed his mind and shot himself.

I'm tryng to figure out how he shot himself, fatally, with a long gun.
His toe, I could see.
MAYBE the press conference will explain it.

Hi Pamela-This can be done. My husband took his life in 2001 and he used a rifle. Without being too graphic here...think sitting down on a chair or the toilet (he was in the bathroom, right?) with finger on trigger, stock on the floor.
Sorry. :(

I am horrified by the notes this young man wrote. To feel that lonely and desperate that the only way he would be "known" or popular was to complete a school shooting. Tragic.
Prayers for this child's family. Those students and faculty are very lucky.
