Back in 1974, the body of 39-year-old James Edwards was found in his home on Elco Drive in Maumee.

'MAUMEE, Ohio — Maumee police are asking for the public's help in solving the 1974 cold case of an English teacher at St. John's Jesuit High School who was "tied up, gagged, and fatally shot in the head."
James Edwards' body was found on Sept. 16 of that year inside his home on Elco Avenue in Maumee by a coworker who was concerned that he had not shown up to work that day, according to the police department. His missing vehicle was also found abandoned in downtown Toledo'.
''The initial investigation found that James, 39, "may have been part of" the LGBTQ+ community and frequented "a particular area in downtown Toledo," Maumee police said on social media. "At the time, this aspect of his life was kept private, known only to those closest to him."
His association with the LGBTQ+ community "is believed to be linked to his tragic death," police said.''
