GUILTY OH - Jonathan Minard, 14, found deceased, Carroll County, 13 April 2019

Does anyone know where the body was buried, on the farm? I mean was it out on the edges, near a road, away from the farmhouse? Somewhere that anyone else might have been able to bury him?

Or was it more centrally located, closer to where the family or workers might be walking around?
Good questions !
No one knows.

When he was found I assumed it was somewhere on the edge of the farm in a ditch by a road.
However if it was in the center or where tractors would be driven... then the farm owners might have some 'splaining' to do.
Obviously a random perp isn't going to bury a body on someone's farm.

We also don't know who told LE to look there.
It stands to reason LE were informed as they couldn't search themselves without a warrant.
Apparently they had a search warrant for that farm.

I've been searching around online and the only articles repeat the same info that's found here. Frustrating.

Carroll County Sheriff Dale Williams has taken to Facebook in a plea to stop people from spreading rumors surrounding the recent death of Jonathan Minard.

Williams writes that the boy's parents have no involvement in the case, adding that "making assumptions and essentially starting rumors about individuals not only affects a person's life and emotions, but can also have severe impacts on this investigation."

The sheriff says the investigation is on going and very active, adding he will release information to the public when complete.

This is a first for me. Usually LE wants us to talk, conjure, and hopefully flush out info. I've seen highly publicized cases where they just do their business. Hope he has enough resources for this.

Some have blamed the young man whom many believe Jonathan Minard last was with, publicly posting profanity-laced threats on his Facebook page. Others now appear to be blaming the child’s death on his parents.

Sheriff Dale R. Williams posted his own message on the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page Thursday night, advising readers, “Let me be very clear, (Jonathan’s) parents had no involvement with this tragic outcome. Making assumptions and essentially starting rumors about individuals not only affects a person’s life and emotions, but can also have severe impacts on this investigation.”

Very odd and also hurtful for anyone to think Jonathan's parents had anything to do with this.

Local LE have never stated the parents as poi's -- so why would anyone point fingers at them ?
They've been nothing but open and honest about what they knew and the search for Jonathan when he was still just 'missing'.

If the poi Jonathan was allegedly last with had nothing to do with his demise --then LE need to step up and declare the poi is innocent and had nothing to do with it; and that the poi knows no one who would have intentions of harming Jonathan.

If LE feel that social media is harming or affecting the poi's life-- then they need to be more supportive of the poi, and let people know this person was not involved in any way.
LE are being protective of the poi and that is possibly why he hasn't been named.
But LE haven't said the poi is no longer a poi/suspect. If LE could clear this up-- then no one will be ".......making assumptions and essentially starting rumors..."

If a random stranger did abduct Jonathan, kill him, and then bury him on someone else's farm --- and if LE feel that this is what happened... then they need to encourage people to start looking outward, instead of pointing fingers at residents within the community.

Just start asking residents if they noticed any unusual vehicles loitering near the farm that day , etc.

It would go a long way if LE said people need to look for a perp outside of the area-- and for the locals to stop with the accusatory 'slant' at the people Jonathan was with that day.

It's starting to look like this was a random stranger and not someone known to Jonathan.
At least that's the vibe from LE.

So maybe there will be 'new' news soon ??

Actually I think your analysis answers the question. Trust their actions not their words.

The tox report may not be complete but the pd have quite a lot of info from it already im sure. The pd get emed info during the autopsy and after. If it was any drugs in his system, (which I dont feel the victim actually took knowingly or by choice) each drug does certain things to effect your body. Some same some different. If there were drugs involved in overdose then they would have a good idea of what it may have been already in my opinion.
Murder by drug overdose can also be a way to murder someone. Public doesnt know the cause of death but investigators probably have a good idea at this point

But this week, “MANY individuals are voicing their opinions and assumptions across social media on the who’s, what’s and when’s of the case,” including accusations against the boy’s family, the sheriff posted on Facebook.

He said that while he understands the public’s frustration, he wants to assure everyone the investigation into the boy’s death is “still ongoing and VERY active.”

“Please know that those working on this case are the only individuals that know the actual facts, and when it is complete, the facts will then be released to the public,” the sheriff wrote.

On Friday, Williams told The Canton Repository, “We are deep into this investigation. These sort of things take time and we are working on this.”

Investigators were still awaiting results from testing, the sheriff said. bbm

“We are not on a TV show where they solve cases in 30 minutes,” Williams said. “We don’t want to leave any stone unturned.”

Upon completion of their investigation, deputies will submit their findings to the Carroll County Prosecutor’s Office, which then would determine whether to present the information to a grand jury.

Sad that sheriff has to formally declare parents are not suspects.

Sheriff clears parents after Ohio boy found buried in shallow grave

News5 --May 7, 2019

CARROLLTON, Ohio (AP) —

A sheriff says the parents of a 14-year-old boy whose body was found in a shallow grave in Ohio aren't suspects in his death and he's advising people not to make assumptions.

Investigators found Jonathan Minard's body April 19 at a Washington Township farm, roughly 90 miles (145 kilometers) southeast of Cleveland. The Dellroy teen was reported missing April 14.

Re-reading the news and this paragraph caught my eye --JM did not have a cell phone. I'd not seen that before.

Jonathan Minard: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Soon after Minard’s disappearance, the Sheriff shared his concern for Minard’s well-being, and acknowledged that the boy’s disappearance was troubling. “You know what? I haven’t slept for three nights. We’re talking about a young man that has no cell phone, that doesn’t have any money, and he’s been gone for three or four days? It’s pretty suspicious to me,“ he said, adding, “Obviously, I know some things about this case that I’m not going to reveal and we want to be able to get this solved, get this taken care of, and make sure it’s right.”

Hopefully this poor family is able to have some answers soon, the not knowing what happened has to be just that much more excruciating for them.:(

Saw there was a new post and hurried over hoping for an update.
Thinking about his parents and extended family.

I'm curious for this child that is working on a non related-family's farm, why he didn't have any money. My kids have mowed lawns, they get paid, that's their money, they get to keep it. Which is also why my daughter has a cell phone because she pays for it with her money.
I know kids help on Family Farms as part of their chores but that isn't the case here. So I assume the boy is getting paid? At this point it's anybody's guess but I wouldn't rule out anybody.

I'm not sure I understand what you are inferring? Are you claiming that JM was not being paid to help on the farm?

Or did I miss something?

As @ab01 said, I’m not clear what your point is? Was there some reference to Jonathan ‘not having money’ that I missed?

Oh, I apologize— Are you talking about the fact that Jonathan didn’t have a phone?

That was one of the first things the Sheriff mentioned. That Minard had no money and no phone.

JM didn't have a phone, As far as a wallet it would not surprise me if he didn't carry one as many 14yrs olds wouldn't while they are doing work on a farm JMO

I don't see any of that as unusual IMO

(jmo) I think the sheriff meant that, at the time he "went missing" he had no money and no phone with him. Jonathan worked on that farm for approximately 2 years and, according to one of his aunt's interviews, he was doing so to earn a little extra money.

Yah I think the context was they had no reason to believe that he simply took off on his own

And confirmed by the fact that he was found buried in a shallow grave near where he was last seen moo
