Joseph is still missing.
The New Franklin Police Department with the assistance of many agencies from Summit County and citizens from multiple cities have thoroughly searched the Portage Lakes State Park and adjacent neighborhoods by way of foot-patrol, drones, K-9's, mounted units. The areas outside the Park reached as far south as the powerlines near Renninger Road. The waterways surrounding the area mentioned were also checked via boat patrol equipped with sonar. We will continue to investigate each and every tip called into the police department.
We appreciate everyone's assistance who was able to come out and help. For those wanting to help we would ask you to extend further from the State Park area, looking in vacant lots and abandoned structures.

Joseph is still missing.
At this time the State Park has been completely searched. The organized volunteer search group has concluded. If anyone wants to check on their leisure and walk the park, please feel free to do so.***

Mr. Latona is still missing. Law Enforcement, Fire and search & rescue personnel are still searching in and around the State Park. Anyone wishing to help search is asked to meet in the parking lot near the beach at 9AM this morning.

Joseph Latona is still missing at this point. The New Franklin Police have been contacted by multiple individuals wanting to walk the park in order to assist. The Park is now open and if anyone wants to assist in walking the area you may do so.
The New Franklin Police Department is currently looking for a missing 90 year old male by the name of Joseph Latona. Joseph left his New Franklin residence for a walk around 9pm on 06/21/2023. Joseph is 5'8", 140lbs. Only clothing description is a pair of blue jeans. His residence is close to the Portage Lakes State Park on Manchester Road. If anyone locates or makes contact with Joseph please contact the New Franklin Police at 330-882-3281.
