At the airport, she is only about 25 miles from the Indiana border (30-minute drive) and headed straight into that storm. Did she backtrack? Did she even have enough gas to get back to Riverside? If she ran out of gas, that car could be sitting in the trees along a rural road. If she got on route 40 west bound instead of I-70, there is woods, Englewood park, etc. to hide the car in.

Okay so the food, diapers, money and gas have probably run out. Where can she go for food and shelter without being recognized?

I hope they are checking shelters.

Can the heading be changed of this post.. it’s so confusing it makes it look like the kids are both recovered? I was so happy when I saw it then my stomach sank. People may be Less interested in clicking on the thread thinking it is resolved when it is not and we need all eyes possible.. im in Columbus and just sick over this especially the two sightings in the many hours before the amber alert went out.
Yes, I actually thought they both were found safe until I saw the news.

There seems to be some confusion in the AG's office considering they made an erroneous report about finding her car. I hope BCI is more organized. Best option would be to have US Marshals looking for her, but Ohio LE in this part of the state usually try to avoid getting help from federal agents. JMO Not sure why, but it's a thing.

Using the investigation of the Pike County Murders as an example. When the Wagner family of killers moved to AK, Ohio BCI planned to interview them at the US border when they crossed. Long story short, they bungled it and almost didn't get the interviews. Used the wrong listening devices, etc. A year or so later, when they had another chance, they did use DHS to conduct more effective audio surveillance. JMO

I always thought that in missing or abducted child cases, FBI involvement was a given. ??

She is probably with a friend or relative hiding out, or sleeping in the car. If she dumped the car, she likely at some homeless camp trying to stay warm. If LE doesn't find her soon, this is going to be bad. I just pray to God she leaves this little guy at a safe place. I'm in SE Texas and we are expecting freezing temps with wind chill. I can only imagine what the rest of you guys are going get. This baby needs to be found now. moo

I think it’s offered, but not required? They’re probably being allowed to play some role.

She left the first one outside in the middle of the night. I am not counting on her leaving the child in the safe place. Could she have crashed the car somewhere?

Hope she doesn’t also run out of patience.

The baby is going to be crying, and she doesn’t have a good track record with her own child.

I know. Just praying some part of her has a heart and leaves him somewhere he'll be found. Thats a good question. She may have crashed the car and left.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — An AMBER Alert remains in place for a 5-month-old boy who went missing Monday evening.

Kason and Kyair Thomas were kidnapped from the Short North district. Police said the twin boys were inside a 2010 Honda Accord left running by their mother at a Donatos Pizza located at East 1st Avenue and North High Street when the vehicle was stolen. Kyair was found safe at the Dayton International Airport early Tuesday morning. Kason is still missing.

The woman accused of taking them, 24-year-old Nalah Jackson, has been charged and a warrant is out for her arrest.

In every case of a missing child, law enforcement must make the decision whether or not the case qualifies for an AMBER Alert.

An AMBER Alert can only be issued for cases that meet the following criteria:

A confirmed abduction of a child under 18-years-old.
The child is believed to be at risk of bodily harm or death.
There is enough descriptive information about the child and abductor to be released to the public.
The child is not a runaway.
"In a best-case scenario, we shoot to have an AMBER Alert activated within an hour, give or take," said Captain Ron Raines with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Raines said OSHP was notified about the incident at 11:41 p.m. on Monday.

"The final conversation between the CPD Sergeant and our Watch Desk Commander was initiated at 12:16 a.m., and they discussed the criteria, the regions to be activated, and they developed additional information that we needed to activate that alert," he explained.

An AMBER Alert was sent to the public at 1:37 a.m. on Tuesday. So what happened in those two hours?

OHSP said at 12:25 a.m. that it started the amber alert process. Eight minutes later, they notified the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation about the alert. At 12:54 a.m., they contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. ODOT sign boards were turned on at 1:16 a.m. Then finally, the AMBER Alert was issued.

There are no nationwide alerts, only state, regional, and local alerts, but they can expand to multiple states. In the case of baby Kason, the five states surrounding Ohio have only issued a BOLO alert.

"There was no belief on behalf of the family or the Columbus Police Department that they would be traveling to one of those states. There were no known contacts in any of those states; each of those states denied or declined to do an AMBER alert activation in their state," said Captain Raines.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Columbus Police Department Special Victims Unit at 614-645-4701.

Praying little Kason is found quickly, and that he is okay.

I have such a bad feeling about this case. That she did leave both children somewhere, separately, and poor Kason hasn't been found because his location was more remote or somewhere people go through only in cars, not on foot, so they would be less likely to see or hear him. It feels like the most likely scenario given what we know, but it is also the worst one. If she still has him, at least he still has a chance. If she left him somewhere, it's too late now.

Edited to add -

Article says that "Barnett said she doesn’t know Jackson, but her aunt grew up with Jackson’s father. Jackson also has family in Chicago, Barnett added."

ABC6 with photos of woman who kidnapped the twins at a gas station. Mother of baby Kason stopped there today and she says she was told that the kidnapper/woman stayed in the gas station restroom for half an hour while baby Kason was outside in the car. Of course the gas station employees didn't know there was a baby in the car, nor did they know about the kidnapping at that time.

I wonder if the suspect has a homeless community she hangs around with. Surely LE is checking those communities while searching.
