I agree. My kids send pictures to their friends and their bf's/gfs ALL day long it seems. If they see something silly or weird they snap a quick photo and press send.

About her phone being OFF though. She was home all alone and going to bed. I know my daughter keeps hers on , even while charging, just for safety's sake. But she has no landline in her apt. I wonder if they had one in the Markham condo?

But if, like you described, she turned it off to charge, and then went to bed, then how did she go missing, with no signs of a break in? It seems so odd.

Also, if she was so tired, why was she still up at 12:45 texting a picture? JC left between 11 and 11:30, I would think she would've gone straight to bed and fallen asleep.

I do think there is a reason the phone is the only thing missing, besides Katelyn...and not necessarily because she happened to have it in her hand...I am not seeing a bodily abduction from her patio, for example, here...someone needed to control/delete, etc...items on the phone. JMO

I think so too. I think they started arguing over the phone and things started getting heated and she might have broken up with over the phone. He may have dropped by and talked her into taking a ride with him so they could talk things over.

Agreed. Something incriminating.

Does anyone know if phone records can be retrieved to obtain the "text" of texts? (not merely that a text was made)

TIA

Wouldn't her dad or her friends know if there were issues in the relationship? Wouldn't she have confided in someone if she was having second thoughts about JC and the move to Colorado? All I'm hearing is they had a great relationship, planned to move to CO in November and they planned to marry? :dunno:

Hard to know...everyone is different...I don't confide in anyone about my marriage, for example, so everyone would say, "oh they were two peas in a pod, so happy" etc...when that is not always the case...JMO

I tried to get thru to Nancy Grace yesterday to ask this very question but I never could get thru.....if still awake at that time why not go burn those papers she wanted to be there for....NOTHING adds up...well it adds up but not with the answers I am hoping for.....

I am beginning to think that JC's family and friends were here ONLY support, I think she was ingrained in their lives and she wasn't looked after or really supported by her own family.....her "support system" was probably his family and friends so I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't share any "issues". So sad!!! She was adopted so obviously very wanted by her parents but somewhere along the way that changed I wonder what happened?

that's my question too! Where were these two early Saturday morning until the wee hours of Sunday morning. If JC had anything to do with her disappearance, she could have gone missing much earlier than previously thought and the whole incident taken place elsewhere and not necessarily at her townhouse. JC could have returned to the townhouse late Saturday night and staged the place to look as if nothing out of the ordinary happened and returned all of her personal items except that he pocketed her cell phone in order to get rid of the evidence on it.

Like "donjeta" said earlier, look for the many slips of the tongue when JC opens his mouth and a perfect example of this is when he was discussing the burning of the documents. He tripped up and said "messages". I know many of you out there don't subscribe to this but it is so blatantly obvious to me that he is exhibitiing "consciousness of guilt". In his little mind he is obsessing over his deletion of critical text messages on Katelyn's phone when he is supposed to be talking about burning Katelyn's "documents". Add to this mix the element of extreme fear of being caught and fatigue or lack of sleep and you have a guy that is so confused when he is speaking that he can't keep straight all of the things that he's said in previous interviews and contradicts himself. JC is obviously not a sociopath...for sociopaths are masters in the art of lying and deception and have no feelings of compassion, empathy or remorse for their actions. JC has a conscience and is, unfortunately, a terrible liar. Others are chalking it up to being a little "slow" or "nerves" but I think not. I think what happened is that Katelyn was having second thoughts about moving accross the country so soon after graduation without any job prospects and living with a guy who delivers pizzas for a living. I think an argument erupted and JC lost control in much the same way that Ryan Widmer did when he drowned his wife. Neither one of these two guys have a prior history of violence but talk to any couple who have been together a while and each party will admit that they know how to push the other ones' buttons.

Last night "should be working" contacted law enforcement friends who told her that just because the detectives told JC he passed his polygraph doesn't mean that he did. They would have their reasons for wanting JC to keep talking and performing interviews and continuing to trip himself up because at some point in the future we might be seeing him stand trial in a murder case that is entirely circumstantial. I think they have a lot of evidence against him already that we are unaware of but they are going to have to build one heck of a strong circumstantial case because at this point they can't even prove there's been a homicide.

Oh, well. This is just all my little humble opinion for what it's worth.

Your opinion is worth a million bucks to me, Brilliant:detective::sleuth:

The two issues that bother me the most and this goes for others on this forum is:

1) the 911 call
2) JC's movements and actions on Sunday

I'm still so confused as to what he actually did that morning. Surely this guy knew what time her shift began at David's bridal on Sunday, yet he drives past her house early that morning and see's her car siiting there but he doesn't stop in to see if she is okay even though by this time he is concerned that she hasn't been answering texts or calls? I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be delivering pizzas early on a Sunday morning so why didn't he stop in to check up on her if he was as consumed with worry as he was letting on. Then it becomes this long, convoluted tale of texting, going into the house, not going into the house until the father gets there. And then the confusing story he tells the 911 operator where he pretty much confirms that he DID go inside her house because he stated her purse was there.

I don't know...I can't even follow his train of thought.!!!! LOLOL

Yes indeed they can retrieve the actual texts. I learned this in the Kyron case (TMI w stepmom sexting right after Ky went missing)

I would love for everyone to list the 2-3 things that are causing them to scratch their heads....for me....

  1. The picture of the picture
  2. Burning the documents
  3. Where is her family?

Hope they reveal something!

For me:
1) Why he didn't just call her job directly looking for her at first
2) why he immediately called 911 and not the Dad when he couldn't contact her

I don't understand why JC didn't use the hidden key outside to let himself into Katelyn's house or even break a window if he was forced to. And why didn't he just show up at David's bridal at 12 noon when most people figure her shift was supposed to start to see if she made it there safe and sound? Instead we have this guy wasting the whole entire day up until 7:00pm in the evening when he and Katelyn's father finally discover that she's missing? Then he calls 911! You mean we're supposed to believe that he wasn't sounding the alarm early in the day frantically calling family and friends when she didn't show up for work? I just don't believe that!

As well janitor in talking about slips of the tongue, when he was on NG they had just played the interview when he was talking about the dream

NG: John, tell me about the dream you were referring to.

CARTER: Her engagement ring?

imo I think they should be looking for her engagement ring....

I think he did call the dad and then called 911. They were both at the house at the same time.

For me it would be the burning of the documents and the picture sent at 12:45 when she was supposedly very tired and heading for bed at around 11:30. 75 minutes later she's sending a picture of a picture? That makes absolutely no sense to me unless someone else sent it or there is more to her private life than we are aware of.

For me:
1. Why is only her phone missing?
2. Why would she text a pic of a pic that late at night when she was supposedly so tired?
3. Why did the BF even bring up burning her messages er... I mean documents? :innocent:

Also, does anyone know if tracking dogs were utilized?
