Re: positive. Could he have meant it was on? Or positive that she has it but she's not answering? :waitasec:

Could this be a hoax or is she hiding? "Not too worry" (he knows where she is)? Burying papers (did she have something needing to be rid of?)

Could she be in a witness protection program and that's why he can't say anything?

I guess I'm still trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but everything he says and does is too suspicious. Very bizarre.

Please try to listen to the interview our local Police Chief gave today on 700WLW it will be on a pod cast later, 8/22 Hour 1 is how it will be labeled I believe. No doubt in my mind now that the police expect foul play, when you hear the resources they are using to search for her there is no chance she is is witness protection.

Cyber crimes unit huh? Interesting

oh the picture sent of her, wasn't it said it was a pic her boss took at work of her?

  • #324
What makes you think this is the picture? I haven't seen that reported anywhere.
I'm curious about this as well.
I know he showed the picture on his phone to reporters, but the glare was such you couldn't see it on the video of that interview.
Have any of the reporters described the photo anywhere?

I thought that was interesting as well in light of the burning of papers her fiancé was asked to do on her behalf.

Ironically, I watched some 48 hours reruns yesterday on TLC and one of the episodes was about missing 34 year old Paige Birgfeld. They first suspected her ex husbands but then her brother discovered a secret life nobody knew about. She was part of an online escort service. She would meet up with guys and offer her services.

Not saying that's the case here but cyber crime made me think of Paige's case.

What else? Could she have met someone from a dating site? But she had a fiancé.

Hope answers are forthcoming and she is found soon.

I can't wait until you can hear the interview with the police chief, y'all will have lots of opinions I am sure.

I also notice that "people close to the fiancee" have already started personally attacking the radio station.

Not that I have read or seen and I have seen just about everything, just ask my poor family.

What an odd case. It seems unlikely at this point (given recent statements by LE and the involvement of cyber crimes) but I really hope that this is a hoax or a stressed young lady in need of a break. If it is the worse case I really hope JC isn't involved. I'm so sick of seeing women and children dead at the hands of those that they loved and trusted to protect them.

Can't you tell us, more or less, what was said? Anything that points to LE thinking they have a POI?

Shoot, I think I'm mis-remembering, because I can't find any article that specifically states that; maybe my brain instantly inferred that picture was the one sent to him when the story was just beginning. Thanks for catching that. I edited my previous statement to reflect this as well.

I wonder why they're not releasing the photo then? JC said in his interview, "I have it right here" and reached for his phone, like it was public/available to the press/etc....

Can you paraphrase what he said? If it was a cyber crime, not sure why the focus would be on her fiancé? I'm perplexed. I would rule him out at this point unless he was involved with whatever cyber crime they're referring to.

It could be a gazillion things. Identity theft, 🤬🤬🤬🤬, child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, hacking, :waitasec:

Would it be a "cyber crime" to toy with the times/dates on a phone?

The 911 call and the timeline of her fiance JC looking for her on Sunday are baffling. Appreciate if anyone can clear anything up for me.

During the 911 call, the dispatcher asks for the address, then asks, "And you're out there now?" He says, "Um, I'm heading out there now. I, like, have been trying to get ahold of her and I decided to go by her house to see if she's okay, and her car's still there - she would be at work right now with her car. Which is why I'm like really freaking out."

However, he ALSO said in the 911 call: "Her purse was there, nothing but her cell phone was missing." And later in the call he says, "The only thing that's not there is her cell phone, which is positive, but she's not answering it."

These comments indicate he'd been in her apartment already by the time of the call.

So, according to the things he himself said in the 911 call:

1) He went to her apartment and saw her car was missing.
2) He went inside and found her gone.
3) He did not call law enforcement.
4) He examined her belongings thoroughly enough to note that nothing was missing but her phone.
5) He then went somewhere else. (Where? Why?)
6) He finally called 911 while en route back to her apartment.

?!

Especially if her dog was confined in an unusual way, which is something else he's said, why did he not call LE the first time he visited?

I agree. Here is a good link if anyone is interested. Its about investigation of cybercrime. It didn't mention phones.

Is there a link to the 911 call? TIA

Was hoping to find some positive news regarding Katelyn this week. I see the situation has gotten even more muddied and confusing.

What's this about the fiance burning papers? I'll have to go see..

Criminal Identification and
Investigation (BCI)
The Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, known as BCI, helps police departments and county sheriffs across the state by providing key support services free of charge.

BCI staff members analyze DNA samples to help catch criminals and solve cold cases. Police agencies around the state frequently ask for BCI investigators to assist at crime scenes and draw on the Bureau’s expertise in growing criminal problems, such as cyber crime.

BCI field agents are always on call to respond to crime scenes and assist local law enforcement agencies with their investigations.

Additionally, BCI is home to the state’s Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), which contains the prints of millions along with their corresponding criminal histories, and the electronic Sex Offender Registration and Notification (eSORN) database, among other resources.

Its services are broken down into three areas:

•Identification
•Investigations
•Laboratory

I know I am a cynic...I just found an old hat of my husband's and will eat it, if the BF is not involved. His choice of words, phrases, etc...is just too "off" to me. JMO
