Thinking of Katelyn!

I would like to know what that boyfriend has been up to! He sure doesn't come across as being able to pull this off and not leave any evidence. Especially if he is a pot smoker cause that stuff makes you scatterbrained, even when you aren't high. At least it did me that way back in the day. So I have a hard time believing that he's capable of pulling this off. But there's just something about him that I can't get past. Strong enough for me to question if it's at all possible that he could have done something to Katelyn? What has HE done to find Katelyn? How is he spending his time and with whom? I just don't get the feeling that he's pining away, desperate to have Katelyn back. And that worries me.

Thinking of you Katelyn... such a talented, creative, beautiful young lady! I hope beyond hope you just ran away with the man of your dreams! Reality makes me just want you found and justice be done.

Bumping for Katelyn....Where are you?????

I was near her condo today, and couldn't help but think of her. Didn't see a flyer at the gas station I went to, not on a telephone pole either. I sure hope she walked away--so I don't feel so guilty about how she isn't being searched for.

A small group of us are still looking and searching quite often. Not sure what others are doing.

There is another vigil planned for her:

Saturday, April 21 at 4:00pm at Harbin Park

Not sure what they are planning but so far, all I see is free flower seeds to 'watch hope grow' and hotdogs?????? I think I will skip this and spend the time searching unless it is explained better.

Good for you...

Vigils are all well and good to remind the community that K is still missing...but organizing searches would be more productive, IMO, if they work with LE and continue to be able to rule out areas...JMO

She will most likely be found by accident when a jogger or hiker etc stumble upon her. I sincerely feel for those dedicated to searching for her. It would be nice if LE had one good lead to toss the searchers. The seemly lack of any info is difficult for any search group to know where to look. Like looking for a needle in a haystack. Praying for that one lead that will break this case. There has to be a clue somewhere that has been overlooked.

This is the actual description of the event:

Join us at Harbin Park's Overlook shelter in Fairfield, Ohio at 4 pm on Saturday, April 21 for “Hope for Katelyn: An Awareness Event.” The event is free, and flower seeds will be given out for attendees to plant at home, to “watch hope grow” for Katelyn. People are welcome to bring short poems, quotes, etc. to read aloud if they wish.

Katelyn Markham disappeared during the night of August 13-14, 2011, last seen at her Dorshire Drive home around midnight, with activity from her cell phone ceasing around 12:45 am. Her car, keys, and purse were all found in her undisturbed home; only she and her cell phone are missing.

Area residents can help the Fairfield Police Department with Katelyn's still-active case by staying alert for anything unusual as outdoor activities increase with the warmer weather – a pair of shoes, an article of clothing, a red cell phone – anything that seems out of place, especially in a secluded area.

We have hope that Katelyn will eventually be found, bringing closure to her loved ones and the many concerned citizens who care about her too. Please spread the word about the “Hope for Katelyn” event, and help raise awareness about this missing Fairfield woman, keeping her story alive and growing in the minds of the community and the media.
________________

The event is intended to raise awareness for area residents -- many of whom are not aware of Katelyn's case, or if they are, mistakenly believe she probably took off on her own -- and remind them to look for anything unusual, since it's now spring and people are outside more. It is not irrelevant to the search for Katelyn, but closely associated with it.

It is possible she will be found by searchers, but since there are no leads on where to search, she may just as easily be found by accident -- and people should be made aware that keeping their eyes open can help. That is one of the purposes of the event. The other is fresh media exposure, which the Fairfield PD says usually generates more calls and leads.

To increase attendance, there will also be live music. A noted Cincinnati musician has agreed to play for free and other musicians are also interested.

I am all for new media exposure and keeping awareness, but this is sounding like a party. Just not my cup of tea. So, like I said, I will skip the hot dogs being posted about and the seeds and the band to walk woods somewhere that day as my part toward finding her.

wish channel 19 would cover this, or any of the reporters from the local network news... before it takes place, hopefully more ppl would go. Anyone close to the case know if the ex boyfriend is attending or speaking with her family?

I keep thinking Winton Woods should be searched.

The gals organizing it said on FB that JC is not attending :-(

I imagine they will contact all the media - lets hope there are stories. With so many people out now with the break in the weather, I just pray we find her soon.

No one should attend who doesn't want to, of course, but I agreed that the event should be explained better.

Originally a tree planting was discussed but it felt too memorial-like, so flowers and/or flower seeds, especially in Katelyn's favorite colors, seemed more appropriate, as well as symbolic of hope... hope that she'll be found and there will be closure for her loved ones. The musician in question does gentle acoustic singer-songwriter stuff. It's not a party.

It being held at a park (one that Katelyn's friends say she loved), so yes, people can cook out if they wish, and/or linger to talk after the event is over, but that's not part of the event per se, just something attendees can do if they like.

This sounds like a very well planned event. It should get good news coverage and will help keep her name out there.
This is what she needs, along with the searching and keeping people aware to watch out for things while they are out.

I can understand why he wouldn't be comfortable in these settings. If he is guilty he would want to stay away. If he had nothing to do with it he has been blasted and accused from day one when he was coming out and got the case to national tv. No matter what he says or does he will be torn apart, if he blinks the wrong way some will say he is guilty. From what I've read he has been criticized even for the footwear at the last vigil. Its a no win for him regardless if he is innocent. I have not made up my mind one way or the other about him. There just hasnt been enough information released for me to make up my mind .I really really hope she is found soon and JC or whoever made her disappear is brought to justice.

I saw that SchoolgirlShamus - about the tree planting. You seem to have more details than I have seen - please do share more as you find it out.

BTW - it is not that "I don't want to attend" -- it is that at this point, with the info given, I think I can be more useful searching for her. Right now, I want her found then; I linger and talk to others whom have poured their heart into finding her, keeping her name out there and prayed for her.

Jo - at the vigil in Jan JC and his family and friends were all treated with the utmost dignity and respect. The event was non-judgmental with everyone participating. I saw speculation and negative comments on everyone after the vigil on FB. From JC and his house shoes to the father and his girlfriend, to the friends of Katelyn and the organizers of the event. However, if I were in JC shoes - people could say WHATEVER they wanted about me, I would be there for 'the love of my life.' JMHO

:banghead: Getting frustrated wanting her found...... so if I sound angry, I guess I am -- she needs to be home. :banghead:
