I just do not for the life of me understand how people can go missing and just disappear :( how could someone not have a guilty mind??? I just heard over my husbands radio a 15 year old boy from Ohio missing for 3 days. Came on here to look, can't find it.

After following this case and others that are similar, I keep getting the feeling that they are connected. There is a PI that has posted blogs about young females missing in the past few years and a connection with routes that truck drivers often use. Maybe he is onto something, if not exactly in the details, at least in theory.

Foul deeds will always rise,
Though all the earth overwhelms them, to men's eyes.

I also read what the PI said. It's def something to think about.

Thinking alot about this case. Been reading horror stories about people doing bath salts and turning into monsters. Im wondering if something like that happened that night and things went horribly wrong. If JC is involved its the only thing that makes sense to me. Bad drugs, something going wrong. I sure wish a break would come soon.

I read the facebook page and all they do is blame the boyfriend and stalk her friends and family. If it was someone she knew it would have been solved by now, none of them seem like rocket scientist master criminals to leave no evidence of a crime and no slip ups. I think she stepped outside, leaving her dog in the bedroom and everything else inside and was grabbed right off the street. I mean that crazy Cowan Mitchell III who was only caught because his victim escaped only lives 9 miles up the road. I really think it is close minded to only look at the boyfriend.

It is close-minded to only look at the boyfriend, but you also don't have to be a rocket scientist master criminal to get away with a crime. Look at every missing person out there-not every single one was disappeared by a master genius criminal. Unfortunately, a lot of the time it only takes a bit of luck and a general, basic knowledge of CSI.

Hello, WS. I've been lurking on this site for the last week, reading every thread on this case. I found this site while searching for info on Katelyn Markham. I've lived in Cincinnati all my life and I currently live only a couple of minutes away from Fairfield. I don't know Katelyn Markham, but I have a couple of friends who went to school with her. I've always been interested in missing persons cases, but I think this one really hits me hard because it's so close to home. I'm very bothered by it and I think about it everyday. It's a bit weird for me, since I don't even know the girl, but this case just bothers me.

I, too, have been on the Facebook page. I check it everyday, hoping to see a new development, but all I see is a whole lot of mudslinging, accusation, wild theories and borderline stalking practices by some of the posters there. I do think it's alright to question certain things and develop theories, but I think a lot of them take it way too far. There have been no suspects named in this case. There hasn't been a PoI named in this case. There hasn't really been much of anything in the way of evidence or leads in this case.

Obviously, whenever instances such as this one occur, people are quick to jump to the boyfriend/fiance. I can see where that comes from, since many cases end with involvement from a significant other. I see a lot of people claiming that his behavior is odd, but none of his accusers probably have the slightest clue of what he is going through. Everyone reacts to tragedy in a different way. Has he said some questionable things? Maybe. But I tend to think that's just more because he is not so well-spoken. I'm not saying that he didn't have anything to do with it. I'm just saying that there has been no solid evidence so far to suggest he did and, in this country, you're innocent until proven guilty.

As for my own personal theory of what happened to Katelyn, at this point, it could be anything. There are really no solid leads to suggest one thing or the other. I've seen many people say that they think that she just up and left to start a new life. That's always possible in a case like this, but I'm inclined to believe that that's not what happened here, given the way she left things in her townhouse (her dog, for example).

One thing is for sure, something isn't right in this case and somebody must know something. All we can do is just hope that that person decides to come forward someday, so Katelyn can go home and, if necessary, justice can be done. Like I said, I don't know Katelyn personally, but from what I can tell, she seems to be a really neat girl. I, myself, am also interested in the arts. I nearly went to the Art Institute of Cincinnati and I even took a tour there, saw the shop and was introduced to the girl working there at the time. I do wonder if it was her that I met.

All I know is, this having taken place so close to home, has really had a bit of an effect on me. It's just really bothered me and I can only imagine what the family is going through. I can't explain it, but it's made me want to dedicate myself to helping find people who are missing. One way or the other, I hope that I live to see some closure in this case.

Giving you a grand welcome, since your a local! LOL

I agree with what I bolded above. I refuse to post on there anymore due to the bashing. Searches bashing other searchers is just beyond my comprehension...........one would think we are all on the same side - the side of finding Katelyn, but sadly that doesn't appear to be true.

Hope to bump into you sometime on a search! Sadly, the one year mark is fast approaching and ideas on where to search are too. If you have any ideas - post em!

I agree with a lot of your post, Laoch -- especially the part above.

Also, welcome to Websleuths!

Thanks for the welcome! I thought all searches were over at this point, but if there is ever another search put together, I definitely want to be there to help. I did read that someone is having an event for Katelyn later on this month. If I can make it, I'm hoping to go and show my support in any way that I can.

This case is alot like Hailey Dunns. Both seemed to have just vanished without a trace. Doesnt appear to be any evidence beyond the disappearance. These are heartbreaking cases to think they may never be found and someone gets away with it. No matter who we think did it there doesnt seem to be any evidence to support it in either case. I lean alot stronger in Haileys case that SA did something than I do with Katelyns and JC doing something. I cant get a good solid feel on it. Im certainly open to just about anything in Katelyns disappearance. I would be more surprised if someone other than SA did something to Hailey. But again, where is the evidence?

This case is a mess. It's become so side tracked with arguing and finger pointing that it's impossible to follow. At one point there were 3 "find Katelyn" pages because the people looking for her couldn't stop bickering. I logged on FB for a long time looking for new info but could never find anything. I know all about juggalos and who so and so thinks practices witch craft but I still have no clear, concise time line of the day she went missing. It's so disappointing :(

  • #774
We may never know that exact timeline. One thing that might be useful to police/sleuths would be Facebook. I know a lot of information can be drawn from a victim's Facebook activity these days and, who knows, her profile may give some indication of a timeline of that night/weekend. However, Katelyn's Facebook wall has been completely wiped out. It's possible, of course, that I just can't see anything on there because I'm not her Facebook friend.

In this case, LE has never even been able to officially rule out Katelyn leaving on her own, due to an apparent lack of crime scene. I guess there is nothing as far as a potential crime scene that they are holding back, since they have said each time they have spoken that they are unable to rule out any scenario.

I do NOT believe Katelyn left on her own...but the total lack of clues makes me think she at least went as far as a car with someone she knew, not bothering to take her belongings as she would be right back, and then was taken/kidnapped. I don't think anything happened in her apartment.

The only thing that would surprise me is if she left on her own.

The article is hard to follow. If I understand it correctly, a 39 year old neighbor first told the mother that the 15 year old was at the store but the next day told her the girl had gone fishing. They then went to the creek and found her body? I don't know if it is related to Katelyn but I don't think this one will take long to solve. The cases are too close in proximity to assume they aren't related though.

i still think it is to much of a conisedence(sp?) that katelyn and billy went missing within a year from each other in the same area and both had one friend in common who has had the finger pointed are her multiple times, and still no interview as far as we know. to me it still seems like a route that has never really been connected much other then me stating it here a few times and that was the end of it. you guys cant tell me you dont find that weird
