LENOX TOWNSHIP The Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department investigated a body found Friday night in a pond adjacent to a township home.
Water rescue units, including underwater divers, and several police and fire departments responded after 6:30 p.m. to 1671 Tompkins Road and recovered the body of a currently unidentified person.
The property is owned by US National Bank.
Investigators, including from the county coroner's office, cordoned off the scene and used industrial lights attached to buggies to search and traverse the wide, muddy field surrounding the property. They had not yet removed the body as of 9 p.m., according to officials at the scene.
County Deputy Coroner Tom Despenes said the body has not been positively identified yet, but is a younger, white male who appears to have been dead for some time.
