OH - Man, Woman In Van Show Up At School During Recess

  • #21
I am not getting the story about the people in a van trying to steal kids, I am getting the story about the guy who rowed out to rescue the seven year old boy in the first link? :waitasec:  I've got the second link up that you posted, Taximom.

Oops, I'll go check that out. Thanks KatK! :blowkiss:

ETA: I don't know what happened, but MSNBC no longer has the article. That's so strange. To think I was excited we were going to get national coverage for this. I deleted and edited everything up there. Thanks again.

It is quite a distance away but there are several similiarties. Similiar color vehicle, multiple vehicles, multiple individuals, and bold enough to do it in front of witnesses (the Okla. case was also in front of witnesses.) The one in Okla. just happened in January of this year. These are so similiar I think you should call both LE's and tip this. Then maybe send them an email with an explanation and a link to the newspaper article for the other state.

Several months ago, we had a thread about a young girl who was kidnapped from the southwestern corner of Oklahoma and was able to free herself from the back of a purple vehicle when the kidnapper stopped for gas in Clovis N.M. I think. She escaped from the rear door of a van-like vehicle and ran screaming into the store. The vehicle took off and I don't think it was ever found.

I tried to keep following the case to see if they ever found out who took her but soon could not find any further mention of it. Anyone remember the girl's name?

I remember thinking at the time that a purple van or SUV would be pretty hard to miss. Maybe it is related to the purple van spotted near some of the Parma cases.

Do you mind if I email LE the info you remembered and found, TGIR/Seriously?

Go for it Taximom. Thanks!

I don't mind at all! It would be good for the Ohio LE and the Oklahoma LE to compare the cases. They never caught a perp in Marissa's case that I could find. They stated they had one early on, but nothing was said about it later...so it must have not panned out.

  • #26
I'll get it all together and either call them or email them asap.

Nothing has ever panned out on my other two emails to LE about missing cases! Hope this one is different. You guys are awesome, as usual! lol

We are all on the same team. : )

There was also an abduction attempt around Clovis, New Mexico around the time that the Oklahoma victim freed herself and escaped. If I remember correctly, the vehicle was also described similarly.

I have this from the FBI:
http://oklahomacity.fbi.gov/pressrel/2007/kidnapping020607.htm

This man seems younger, but then we are all old to the little folk!

txsvicki, I tried googling "clovis, nm abduction" and the first search item was "reported alien abduction!" LOL I'm guessing that's not the one. Other than that there was a newborn that had been abducted in March 2007.

Do these perverts have some kind of organized kidnapping network going on? Between the cell phone calls and houses, it sounds like they do. With the internet nowadays, it would make it easier for them to organize. Scary thought..
Could the vehicle have been maroon rather than purple?
I'm not sure about the state laws in those states regarding pets, however in many states registration and shots are required, so maybe checking into all local vets to see if any pets match the description of the dog or cats. Since the cat was called Whiskers it should be easier to find a file with a description (b&W) and also a name to go on. From there, they could find the owners.

Wow Taximom!

That FBI press release you linked really gives us a detailed timeline of the perp's movements thruout the kidnapping. I wonder why I didn't see that much detail in any of the MSM stories?

If this is connected to the Parma cases, I wonder if we're seeing something more than your usual stranger abduction. More than one person, multiple vehicles, driving all over the place from one state to the next, multiple failed kidnap attempts on random children one after another...not your usual desperate pervert kind of crimes.

If I were a gambling woman I'd put money on there being several more attempts in these areas with similar MO. Problem is, we usually get watered down info from MSM designed to fill a short time slot or number of lines available on a page. We need more detailed reports like Taximom's FBI release.

i think we need to see what else we can find!

I'm surprised they are still in Parma...they were in MY neighborhood last week. We received an "alert call" from the school system, our kids were informed about them during school AND we received an "alert call" from our local Police Department. I thought that would scare these idiots out of our area by now. Last week they had a puppy and a purple van.

Sorry to chime in late but, they were in my neighborhood last week also. Besides telling all the kids. The school district sent out a phone alert (which I recieved on my home and my cell phone). I wonder if we are in the same system Roxanne?

I called LE and gave them the contact name and number of the FBI agent on that press release, and some of the facts. They sounded kind of doubtful, but hopefully they'll check it out. They sure don't give you good vibes when you call.

OMG! I can't believe they have THAT much detail and have not FOUND those houses or that perp!!! Clovis, NM is NOT that large of a place and there probably aren't too many vets there to be able to check out shot records etc. for the cat. And how hard would it be to find such a vehicle there?! Sit on the convenience store for a day or two...they buy gas, ciggies, milk, etc. like other people!

They also have a good description of the house and whereabouts in North Amarillo...so why haven't they taken Marissa back there to drive around to find the location she was taken to?!

I know if it were my daughter...we would be going up and down EVERY street to find it. (I actually found a person that "flashed" my child and I when she was just 2yo this way and had him arrested. I found the vehicle he fled in...two days after I made a report with the police.)

This report does leave me questioning the FBI and the OSBI! The media certainly never picked up on those details in and around Oklahoma. It is ridiculous, IMO! Thanks for finding that, Taximom! I may call our local media and ask them to do a follow up story on it.

One thing to catch my eye is the Cannon Air Force Base. It is only 6 miles from the town of Clovis.

Many military personnel reside in both towns; additionally, federally-owned military housing developments have been built within Clovis and Portales, including one section directly adjacent to the base.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curry_County,_New_Mexico

A possible connection to the AFB would be the V-22 Osprey plant in Amarillo, TX.

Any installations near where the recent attempts have taken place?

I'm glad you agree! I read that and wondered HOW in the world had this guy (or people) slipped away with all that detail!!! This guy also didn't seem to be too concerned about being in the public, which I thought was strange. I think if I kidnapped someone I would hit the road until I was about 2 states away! :p

I think the closest military base is in Dayton, and that's about 3-4 hours south of here. It is USAF though.

How many purple minivans can there be out there? Just wondering. It also must be an older minivan. Does your town have cameras on the traffic lights? Is there a bank or a mall around there area? You might want to find these out or tip off the LE that they should check out these things.

If you drive in Parma with a headlight out, 3 police cars are on your tail. They are ruthless. If this van (if it's described accurately) shows up there again they would probably get them. (Although the school is in Parma Hts...not sure if they share LE or have their own.)

Cleveland...eh, chances not so good. Broadview Hts? Probably even better than Parma's LE.

That particular school in Parma is surrounded by mostly homes, not businesses. I would hope LE is checking out possible routes for this van, and checking for security cameras.
