Megan McClelland had been working as a dental assistant, and had recently bought a new home in Bremen, Ohio. She has two daughters, a nine-year-old and a four-year-old. But in June 2019, Megan’s world came crumbling down as she went through a divorce and lost her job. She decided to get out of town, but her family told Dateline she always stayed in touch.

Until August 1, 2019 when she called from an unknown number, to ask her mother for money. She told her mother she had lost her phone and was using a friend’s. It was the last time they heard from her.

Detective Jason Meadows with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office told Dateline they are actively investigating the case, but the fact that they are not able to track her phone makes the search more difficult. Megan is described as being 5’4”, weighing 140 pounds, with auburn hair and blue eyes.

Cora Baker didn’t recognize the New Jersey phone number, Cora’s daughter Judy told Dateline, but she picked up anyway. It was her 31-year-old daughter, Megan McClelland on the line.

Megan, who had been on the road since June, kept her voice low as she told her mother that she needed money. Cora told Megan she’d send her a bus ticket in the morning. Megan insisted she needed money. For clothes, she added.

Cora agreed to help Megan, told her to call back later that morning and said that she would go to Western Union when she woke up.

But Megan never called. And she hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

“It was her birthday. August 1,” Megan’s youngest sister Judy told Dateline about the conversation with their mother. “When she called our mom, her voice was really low, like she was trying to be quiet and couldn’t talk. And she sounded scared.”

I think it is probably a good idea to note that she has warrant out for her arrest. Maybe she is in jail? There is an ENDNGER CHILDRN charge. Maybe she couldn't like with herself after that incident and felt the need to take off? Maybe that sent her into a downward spiral? There is so little info so I am of course grasping a straws. I do wonder if the families 1st stops are to police stations and detention centers? AND I would love to know if there is a way to see if someone has been locked up in federal prison. That is a another category completely. I feel like vinelink is not completely reliable in all states. It is a little hard to navigate sometimes. I also find they take their good ole time updating "the visitors" statuses. Lets get this case some attention. I feel it is VERY solvable!
