Authorities believe the body of Michael Sheppard Jr. might be buried near the border of Erie and Huron counties.

Police concluded Sheppard was killed in a drug dispute in Huron County and his body was buried behind Fox Lane, a private road off U.S. 250 between Milan and Norwalk. Authorities searched the area multiple times in the past with cadaver dogs but never recovered his remains.

White and Hall had their December jury trial dates in the Huron County vacated because of pending lab results, but a spokeswoman for the attorney general at the time couldn’t comment as to if this was related to the search.

But on Monday, Texas EquuSearch — an organization that specializes in finding missing people — returned to the site at the request of the state, less than a week after White accepted a plea agreement of his own. White pleaded guilty last Tuesday to obstructing official business, a misdemeanor. In exchange, murder and aggravated robbery charges were dismissed by the attorney general’s office, which is prosecuting the case. White is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday — the same day he and Hall were supposed to have jury trials — in the common pleas court.

Hall is the last defendant facing a murder charge and is scheduled to have a pretrial the same day.

Scott Hall, 46, of Clyde, and Adam White, 36, of Sandusky, both pleaded guilty to obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor. In exchange, charges of murder and aggravated robbery were dismissed.

An agent with the state investigated the case for years and came to the conclusion Sheppard was killed in a drug dispute near the border of Erie and Huron counties, but his body was never recovered.

In 2017, his investigation secured indictments on two counts of murder and one count of aggravated robbery against Hall, White and Joshua Stamm, 37, of Florida.

As part of a plea agreement in October, Stamm admitted to shooting Sheppard. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and the other charges were dismissed.

He was sentenced to three years in prison to be served at the same time as the unrelated weapon charges he’s serving in a Florida prison.

At his sentencing, members of Sheppard’s family made it clear they weren’t pleased and felt the justice system failed them.

Sheppard, circa 2003; Joshua Stamm; Adam White; Scott Hall

<<Stamm cooperated with the prosecution. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in October 2018 and admitted to his role in the crime. In exchange for his cooperation, he was sentenced to three years in prison, to be served concurrently with an unrelated three-year sentence out of Florida for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to Stamm, Sheppard was shot multiple times during an attempted drug deal gone bad, and his body was buried in the Fox Lane area off U.S. 250 between Norwalk and Milan, Ohio. Investigators are hoping to recover his remains. White and Hall are still awaiting trial.

There have been many unsubstantiated rumors about Sheppard's disappearance and the supposed location of his body. Authorities believe he was murdered by his drug associates. They think his body may be in the Huron County, Ohio area. His case remains unsolved.>>

An extremely tragic case.
IMO no one should have been given a plea deal if he was never recovered.
They could have been less than honest about his location.

Was he ever excluded as being the unidentified victim mentioned on post#6 of this thread? Just in case...

Details of Disappearance

Sheppard was living in his mother and stepfather's Milan, Ohio home when, in April 2003, they found out he was selling drugs and asked him to leave. Late that month, he went to visit his mother driving a red Ford pickup truck. He said he'd just bought the truck and was on his way to get license plates for it, and would return to visit her in two days. He never did. He was last seen on May 8, and has not been seen or heard from since.

Several months after Sheppard's mother last saw him, she got phone calls from two brothers in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Sheppard used to live. The callers said Sheppard had stolen thousands of dollars from a drug dealer. They demanded to know his whereabouts and threatened his life. Sheppard's mother notified the police about the threats and filed a missing persons report.

According to his family, Sheppard began using drugs in high school and was selling them by the time he was in his twenties. They stated he tried many times to overcome his addiction, but always relapsed. In spite of his drug problem, however, he was devoted to his family and kept in close contact with them. None of his relatives have heard from him since 2003.

In May 2017, three men were indicted for murder in Sheppard's presumed death: Joshua W. Stamm, Adam White, and Scott Hall. Photos of all three are posted with this case summary.

Stamm cooperated with the prosecution.

The case against Hall and White concluded in March 2019, when both men pleaded guilty to obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor. In exchange for their plea, the murder and robbery charges were dismissed. The men were both sentenced to time served, and ordered to pay a fine.

There have been many unsubstantiated rumors about Sheppard's disappearance and the supposed location of his body. Authorities believe his body may be in the Huron County, Ohio area. Foul play is suspected in his case due to the circumstances involved.
