MALTA - The skeletal remains of a human hand was found by a man who was hunting arrowheads on Friday at the Muskingum River #8 Dam in the Eagleport area.

The location was on Ohio 669 approximately 6.5 miles north of Malta, according to a press release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.
The Morgan County sheriff and several deputies conducted a search of the area, with volunteers from the Adult Parole Authority and Morgan County Court Probation Department. Several items of interest were collected along with the skeletal remains, according to the release.

I can't do it today, but it might be worth checking what Ohio unidentified remains were found in that area with hands or arms missing.

No connection to another set of remains found in Morgan county that was recently identified:
Earlier this month, what appeared to be the skeletal remains of a human hand were found by a man who was hunting arrowheads at the Muskingum River 8 Dam in the Eagleport area. McGrath said the two discoveries are not connected and occurred at nearly opposite ends of the county.

Also, the more recent skeletal discovery may not be human, he said.
The remains were sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and McGrath said an anthropologist will determine if it is human.
According to an earlier press release, several items of interest were collected along with the remains, but McGrath said those items turned out to not be related to the supposed hand.
Often, items wash up from the dam and mix together with items already on the shore, he said.

They don't seem to have created a Namus page for the remains, and I couldn't find an update.

I think the case might be still active but I couldn't find any information about it, and it's not in Namus. I suspect it's hung up in the lab behind a lot of more urgent cases.

Here's a different article with a picture of the location.
