Mother and Son Ignored Repeated Warnings About Aggressive Pit Bulls Before They Mauled Elderly Neighbor to Death

A jury in Pickaway County, Ohio returned guilty verdicts for Susan Withers and her son Adam Withers on Thursday, Feb. 13, after about six hours of deliberation, The Columbus Dispatch and the Circleville Herald reported from the courtroom. The pair were also convicted of confining, restraining and debarking dogs, WBNS-TV reports.

A couple in my apartment has two giant pit bulls. One seems quite friendly, but the other is aggressive. I can’t imagine trying to keep two dogs the size of small donkeys in an apartment.

This all could have been avoided if LE & landlords would take dangerous dog breeds seriously. I love dogs, but in most cases they are also victims of poor ownership or circumstances & this is no exception IMO.

Two weeks later, on September 27, Ashville Police responded to Kildow Court and stated they saw Adam Withers lying in the roadway with his dogs. His dogs were loose, and he appeared intoxicated.

In the court complaint, police wrote Withers admitted to ingesting all of his cocaine minutes before they arrived. One dog was unable to use its back legs. Police wrote, "I believe that both of the dogs were exposed to the drugs that Adam was taking."
